He bats like Kevin Pieterson.
He is a magnificent batsman, maybe the best NZo/d batsman we may ever see.

This game was released when WATSON 1/20 [5] was stupidly
replaced by WHITE
wht oh why would you bowl WHITE when HOGG+ WATSON were bowling well.

Best NZ o/d batsman? I saw M. Crowe play and i don't care what form of the game i can't see NZ producing a better player. Imagine if his knee hadn't blown up.

4 one day losses in a row for the Aussies. Looks as though we've got some thinking to do.

Good chase down by the Kiwis....

Only thing I'll say is the World Cup final isn't being played tomorrow, form is temporary class is permanent

This side is too good not to turn it around.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

i dont know about that (class) yes a few out (didn't make the trip) but we all have been saying for years that our 2nd,3rd & 4th teams would beat most countries but our depth is not as strong as we all (including me) thought
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

As it turns out, statistically Watson was the best bowler, but he bowled full toss after full toss.

Hogg got smashed. White - they persist on bowling him - and still gets smashed.

Tait was on the other end of the Watson scale - bowled better than his figures suggested.

Yeah agree with that. Tait did bowl OK but he still has some work to do.

Postby bayman » Sun Feb 18, 2007 4:41 pm

i would think that with what i saw today brad hogg will not play for australia again after this series, i know he's been picked in the world cup squad but after what i've seen lately & today he'll be put out to pasture surely ?

HUSSEYS captaincy was very ordinary

HOGG/WATSON bowling well brings WHITE on ......WHITE 3 OVERS 0/29

3/209 after[ 34] TAIT has the over of the match 2 runs... DRAGGED.

3/226 after [37] MCGRATH 2 runs of the 38th over...DRAGGED

3/228 AFTER[38] WATSON gets TAYLOR out + 6 off the over ...DRAGGED

SO we have NZ now at 3/234 off[39] 103 needed off 66 balls

HOGG 12 who replaced MCGRATH
TAIT 13 who replaced WATSON
HOGG 17

42 OFF 3 OVERS

TAYLOR 117[127]
What a player.

In years to come will it be the WATSON/TAYLOR CUP

That would be apropos. Seems a waste to associate the great names of Chappell and Hadlee in association with such a meaningless event.

You gotta admit though Ross TAYLOR is a star.

In recent years not many have put a genuine fear into the Aussies when batting
I can think of 3 guys who attack attack attack and intimidate the Aussie bowlers

LARA
PIETERSON
TAYLOR

And they succeed more than most.

I agree with your sentiments regarding the 3 batsmen you mention but very very few players deserve the right to mentioned alongside Brian Charles Lara.

When you have 6 star batsmen a star wicketkeeper and 4 star bowlers
you can get away with it.
We have had freakish talent to get away with it.
And BICHEL + SYMONDS did get us to finals with thier efforts.
Steve WAUGH helped as well.

Also name one allrounder we have currently that is anywhere near the equal of a Kallis or a Pollock. The other allrounders SA have are very good at one of the diciplines and the other is a bonus. We keep playing guys who aren't very good at either.
