It still feels just as good today as is did last night :D Clearly there have been times in the last 15 years where i was ashamed to be a RedBack fan (bowled out for 29 amongst others) but today i feel like the pride i feel is just reward for the loyalty i maintained during the troubling and turbulent times.
Realistically this is the highest paid form of the game so i really dont want anyone trying to take the shine off of our achievements. "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!"

Great win by the Redbacks, deserved winners, best team all series (besides the minor hiccup in the first round). Hopefully a springboard for further success.

The best thing for me about the win was that two South Aussies brought it home.

I took my 7 year old niece again last night. We went to all T20 matches last year, and 3 this year.

She has been part of In2Cricket for the past 2 years and is really enjoying it.
She keeps getting invites from SACA to be part of cricket clinics, and this season has met both the Aust Mens and Womens Teams at Milo promotional events, did the guard of honour for Aust V England, and will be part of the pre-macth entertainment for SA V Tas in March.
Erin Osborne from NSW Womens team was her buddy at one event, so she watched her last night with interest.

However, on Aust Day One Dayer Aust V England she went with her Dad.
They left at "half time" as she had had enough, and was annoying her Dad with her "how much longer" questions.

For the T20 matches we get there about 5.45 and stay the full night. Usually about 4 1/2 hrs in total. This best explains why T20 is so popular with families.
She wears her Redbacks shirt and cap with pride. Gets excited when the mini fireworks go off. Loved watching the dancing girls this year. Shows off her face painting, redback balloon, and jumps around on the Jumpy Castle, and then enjoys the crowd participation stuff and Mexican Wave.
Kids attention spans are shorter, but they still love going to the cricket.

BUT, as she gets older & more mature, there is a good chance that she will get into the Test format, which is the only reason I like the 20/20 stuff, in the long run it's great for the main game. Keeps kids interested from an earlier age.

Very far from my favourite format of the game but a terrific result for South Australian cricket.
Walking out of the ground at the end of the game people were actually chanting Redbacks, Redbacks. Remarkably parochial.
So, my question is why would the CA administrators toy with a concept that is such a massive revenue raiser for the state cricket boards and the SACA in particular. Will 28000 people turn out to see the Adelaide Heat or what ever the other appalling names that were floated in the member's survey recently?
I simply can not understand why they would toy with what has proved an incredibly successful format.
Anyhoo, well done SA. Enjoy the moment and now get done to winning some Shield games. Different game obviously but funny what a bit of self belief can achieve.

It may not be "silver"ware as such, but it's still a trophy; and I for one am proud SA has finally had some success, albeit in the shortest form of the game there is. Hopefully, from here we can only improve, and now they should have confidence in themselves to be able to succeed in the one day and Sheffield Shield tournaments as well.

Well. Whirlwind tour over.

Well done to the 'Backs, what a ripper game!

Things I learned/rated:

DA Warner- If he bats for ten overs, then he's probably got a ton. Can beat any side if he fires... IPL? Watch this space.

A O'Brien- One of my lovechildren, bowled a maiden, kept it tight, what a ripper.

M HenREBiques- Sorry to say, but I was among about twenty people on the fence giving him an absolute roasting. Took it all in good spirits, grinning like a cheshire cat.

C Borgas- On the way into the ground, I said to my pessimistic mate, "If Blizzard doesn't cream them, then DC can go bang, and Borgas too, if he gets a chance..." The rest is history.

DT Christian- WHATTAGUY! What a bowler! What a fielder! Heeeez the man!

Doc Harris- Leading run scorer for the series, and I said at the start of the Bash, he shouldn't be in the side!

Kane Richardson- Last over was called at five balls, then came back for the sixth, WICKET! What a lucky pick up!

Nathan Lyon- Surprise packet, hopefully forms a spin combo with O'Brien in the Shield.

Sorry OL, but guys like Cummins and Lyon, and what they've done proves the worth of a domestic twenty over comp (sorry REB too).

Other thing I learnt:

When OL was getting bagged on here, Tiger07 made a rare sojourn away from the EP forum... ;)

Congrats to the Redbacks. Good to see them finally win something...

I actually agree with the general sentiment of OL though...

20/20 I don't really class as 'real cricket'. It's a smash fest for sloggers and bowlers like Tait who can't cut it in the real game...

Good on 'em though... :)

this used to be said about 50 over cricket as well.....whatever anybody thinks it is here to stay, but lets not saturate this product

jamie cox on 5AN last night after the match, mentioned mark sorrell & the fact that mark as coach wanted 'chuck' berry for the T20 tournament in south africa & wanted him to stay on board for this years big bash, so well done to mark sorrell on that

Sorry couldn't help myself, should ignore cretins like this. But it means
- the 28K people at the ground had a great time.
- it means we have won a national competition against all the States for the first time in 15 years
- it means that we are off to the CL, where there is 2.5 mil on offer to the winner
- it means we can tell REB to shut up for a week, or maybe even more
- it means we won 150k last night and NSW took home 2 and 6.
- it means we are the best 20/20 team in this great land.
- it means that idiots like you get on this forum and criticise people that have achieved a great deal more than you ever have.
- It means you are a knob.

Sorry, I will stop ranting.

Regards
Bulls.
