Our preseason numbers were very good early, but dropped dramatically prior to christmas and after New years.
Numbers have doubled in the last week or two alone and we are hoping to get everyone back on the track consistently in the coming weeks. Not sure where the rumour of player unrest has come from ???

I have heard Dave Menner signed at Kilburn and Kilburn trying to get Thach to join him BR?

Menner hasn't signed at kilburn and knowing him fairly well IMO I would sAy that he wont, work commitments have taken a fAir bit of his time up. Would love to have him out there thou. Also there has been no mention of thachy as of yet but would be a very handy inclusion for us.

no one of note as this stage just fringe A graders solid B graders. will add depth to the club. its going to be close to the same side that played last year. Hope for a bit more luck on the injury front.

Dunno who the hell is returning Schimma - if they are, they're not at bloody training. Good numbers though - just need some injury luck - we got savaged last year. Hopefulyl have some u/18's play some A grade this year - we had a good side the 18's last year who lost by a kick in the GF.

New president has a lot to say - ala Jeff Kennett. Hope he doesn't have a ridiculous inside/out jacket or something like that. Everyone gives him a wide berth.

You guys did have a good 18's side
probs 2-3 capable of playing from the start of this season!
With the quality B grade you have, injuries shouldnt hurt you guys as much as they do other sides!

Heard there is a new president. How have the playing group taken to him in that role??

Def Agree Fisty. The drama theres was from the starting 18 in the 2's in round one, the majority of them were playing ONLY A grade by the end of the year. Just lsot way too many of our first 18 to injury.

The president is hands on. Hes announced he will be captaining the A grade and playing CHF for the entire season. Interesting decision, but hes is the president so what he says goes. He's really keen to get some new sponsors on baord, but I doubt the players will take to the Mars Mar being on as our major guernsey sponsor with the same enthusiasm that he does. Canteen staff apparently already preparing for round one due to his presence.

Ha, hes going well Fisty. Very involved and very keen. One of those blokes that you wonder what he actually does at work cos of the amount of time hes commits to the footy club!

I don't know too much about teh young 18's boys, but some have impressed on the track so far, so hopefully they push up. They're all real keen and giving it a crack which is fantastic.

Should be a good year.

Didnt say it was the player unrest, just unrest at the club (if that makes sense)

I noticed on the SAAFL website that both Portland and Port Districts are looking for a trial match on the same day, the 26th March.

Hmmm, could make for a VERY interesting 'trial' game... :D

Was a very strange decision i thought that J Thomas would head out there, obviously money was a huge factor, cos they have got no real talent to rely on. If they thought it would be easy to get players to the club with $$$, i guess they are mistaken. Sure $$$ can talk, but a club that's slipped 3 divisions in 3 years, surely isn't that attractive.

It would be great Felch, Districts had a trial scheduled with Onkaparinga who pulled out after firing their coax earlier this week. Although many, if not all of the players would love a Districts v Portland trial match, I don't think the coaches/management want it.

Yeah, it might be a bit short-sighted to play each other, even though it would be good. Both sides could end up having to forfeit the season due to beating the cr@p out of each other !!!

I reckon the 2 teams will end up playing each other in the near future anyway, but for points... :D

I reckon people wld pay money to watch Portland and districts whack the snot out of each other. Definately would be one of the most intense trials in each clubs history if it did happen. Both clubs would want to prove who's the better club.
