God I always get sucked into these threads!

Does anyone remember these great munchies from late 70s / early 80s that came in a black box called 'Something to Munch on While You're Having a Drink'? Bizarre to think of now but they were fantastic - kind of like between Twisties and pork crackling. I see there's a Facebook group for it so at least I know I'm not completely crazy! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bring-bac ... 3939132060

Big fan of 80s breakfast cereal too (usually came with cool toys too) - Strawberry Pops (with a pink elephant on the front), Smurfs (loaded with chocolate goodness), PacMan (honey wheat things - delicious sugar hit).

80s chips: Chicken Cackles, UFOs, Chickadees, Monster Munch, Samboy - Gold and Steak & Onion, Toobs (I know they brought them back but they're poo)

80s ice blocks: Smurfee, Funny Feet, Cool Shark, Peters Footy, Rocket, Return of the Jedi (with a weird jelly baby thing in the top), Kiss, Barney Banana, Sunnyboy, Razz & Snips

Do they still make Choo Choo Bars? And nobody seems to wear Eastcoast anymore? ;)

I can't remember where I got them from, but I got a packet of those from somewhere only a couple of weeks ago.

Edit: Purchased, and from a supermarket, too. ;) Maybe Foodland.

There is a stall at the Victor Harbour markets that sells TAB, Dr Pepper etc.

What they don't make anymore is the commercials to sell TAB with Elle in them.

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Milo Bars are horrible now. I also used to have about 2 drinks of milo a day (half milo/half milk) back from when I was a kid, but since they changed the taste I dont bother (which isnt a bad thing given how fattening it would have been). Milo do however make a type of custard these days which is very nice.

Fruchocs I have seen at certain IGA stores as well as Yo Yo's. When Kirks brought out Fruta my local IGA had about 12 boxes of it. I brought 6 of the 12.

you have me upset if a supermarket threw out those cottees bottles. we now refuse to buy those small bottles!!!!

Yep - threw them out - didn't sell them at reduced price - didn't give them to charity for hampers - just plane old threw them out.
I have no idea if this was the supermarket owners doing or if cottees gave instruction to throw them out.

For a couple of weeks I bought the 'new improved' cottees small bottles - but as I said - we were going through twice as much - have now gone to the old 'black and gold' / 'supermarket' brands myself - probably not as good a quality but at least it lasts..lol.

Would be interesting to know if Cottees sales went up or down after this change over?
