The latest news is that Binger LEE will now miss the series with leg injury.
Missing in action now are:
GIL'christ' the worlds very best keeper batsmen
PONTING arguably the best o/d batsman in the world
SYMONDS the most destructive middle order allrounder in the world
LEE arguably the best o/d bowler in the world

If you were a NZ barracker and you were asked which 4 aussies you would want
to be left out of a best AU X1 you would probably choose those 4 players.
MCGRATH + HUSSEY would be the other 2 in a top 6 of outs.

As for todays game:
NZ were nearly good enough to beat our strongest team in Australia recently.
By definition+ on thier postage stamp grounds they are probably favoured to
win the Hadlee/Chappell series

So if Clarke drops out that only leaves 9 players and from memory Jacques was the only one to go outside the squad.

Here's an update on the weather, it was cloudy and windy earlier but the sun's out now. The bowler's have ruled the roost though and the batsmen have found it really hard on a difficult pitch. Cameron White is the new batsman.

i disagree why cant bowlers have a chance now and again, as a rule close low scoring games are much more netertaining than the high scoring ones

Im stunned how the wicketkeeper batted number 3 today
Haddin is an exceptional batsman batting in the middle order
but batting 3 is a bit too presumptious.
Surely Hodge or Watson should bat 3 before him.

That is the case usually, but not when the wicket goes from being a shocker to a belter, as REB said!

what evidence do we have that the pitch is getting for batting? from what i can tell it has been tough all innings and with nz batting at night i dont see it becoming any easier

and why does everyone refer to a bowler friendlywicket as a shocker, and a batter friendly wicket as a belter. the game is not only about watching batsmen tee off on road like pitches every game

In one dayers you like to see a few more runs scored, the game is designed for that but I agree May-Z about what you are saying generally, I like to see a battle between bat and ball (In other words Test Cricket). I've no idea of the particular conditions for this wicket but from the matches I have seen from NZ, the scenario I described is not an uncommon one. You're probably right about the wicket not getting any easier to bat on tonight though.

I reckon we'll be thirty runs short of a decent total and that this will be our fourth loss in five one day games. Brilliant World Cup preparation!
