Barrett will do well in the Port Augusta league, handy backman who rebounds out of defence well. Played a fair bit of b grade last few years at Birdwood mainly due to falling out with the coach and some time constraints for training etc. Should play A Grade in Port Augusta.

Matt Woolword likely to play for Centrals is the word I have received, if he can talk his way out of playing at home.

I have huge wraps on Lachlan Barrett, has fit in very well at training and has brang with him some great leadership qualities, that will help me through out the year.

Yep, Lachy will carve up!! Reads the play extremely well and has great hands. Also one of the best kicking styles i've seen

Yeah, apparantly players that played majority of reserves last season will be worth 0 points (not sure if that's our league or all leagues)

As you state your a south augusta fan. number 1 hate would be ports (probably no.1 for most clubs) followed by west, central and the rest. Some of the biggest rivalries for south are port, central and west as tensions have came to blows between those four teams.

I would have thought Killa that Centrals & South have a biggest rivalry in port, they certainly don't like each other.

Sollies - Ports is probably the most fierce rivalry.
South - Central has the most meaning at the moment due to recent history.
South - West & Central - West are also big rivalries.
Augusta vs Pirie gets emotions going, South - Port arguably the biggest cross town rivalry, both teams are the Bulldogs.

South - Hard running team in numbers.
West - Running team with potent forwards, dangerous on the counter attack.
Central - Tall team who have good ruckman and key forward.
Lions - Young running team who like to throw the ball around.
Sollies - Rebuilding under tough, discipline coach. Will improve again.
Ports - Hard to say. Lost alot last year, but Burford back will give them 1st use of the ball.

I would have thought Killa that Centrals & South have a biggest rivalry in port, they certainly don't like each other.

I stated 3 teams above that involve souths biggest rivalries. The tensions between cross town games are greater than playing a local team. Have you seen some past south v port, you would have odds on favourate bet there would be fights. The central rivalry is big as well and has grown since the 3 quarter time brawl at last year gf. If you wan the biggest rivalry augusta would be centrals closely followed by west and in pirie its ports.

How can you possibly pick the best from 3 seperate leagues when we don't see each other play except for the 1 inter-league match between SGL vs Whyalla.

After our dismal performance last season the talk on the bus on the return trip was the possibility of organising a:
SGL vs Whyalla vs Woomera & Districts vs Northern Areas
or because of Northern Areas playing in one already
Pt Augusta vs Pt Pirie vs Woomera & Districts vs Whyalla

Hence the need for an independent coach (with the help of selectors) that is not a club coach.

Who makes the call on the appointment due to it being such a big culmination of players/leagues?
Also, what was Duck Davies cridentials besides a husky voice? Has he coached a premiership?

I agree with 7Dog to a certain degree. What about an association round robin carnival using a 2 by 20 minute halves format with all 4 teams? Very similar to the Country carnival system and a great chance to have a look at other players, see who is keen and develop some much needed camaraderie amongst their potential teammates over a few beers afterwards. A special teams dinner could follow where squad selection could take place. Develop some prestige and the pride/team spirit will follow.Maybe some of those who dont put their hand up might change their thinking.

This concept sounds like a no-brainer and would look very nice on pirie oval! There would be no reason why this couldn't happen at all.

But 98% of Northern's failure was lack of class and fitness on the footy field. Basically we took the best players we could after many Whyalla and SGL household names turned their backs on the carnival. And we were found out...simple as that.

look, the Duckster is a bloody good bloke. His heart is in the right place and you could never accuse him of dodging an issue. But think about his strategy during games. Benching one of the NAFA's leading goalkickers (Ryan Foulis) because he couldn't get a kick at chf or ff and putting Davies junior out there to be shown up was a dud move. Foulis was state hbflanker at Berri in 2006 when Keith Nutt got the cake and Davies should have chucked Foulis down into defence. I could go on...
