Gastev you really have no idea what is going on at your 'supposed' own club.
MeGregor was on a 1k package at kilburn so you think he's going to drive and hour and a half down the road on his weekends off work for less than that? You're a cadet aand the blum news happened weeks ago along with prest and soon to be two more locals.
By the way, nick williams has also pulled the pin on playing at the bay.
When the bays learn to develop and respect their local talent they will improve, until then they will make up the numbers.
cadet maybe , not a has been? anyway i have heard about a couple others leaving only because the money is to good to refuse elsewhere. wheres prest going ? i think the bays can cover him anyway

No idea what you're on about now but anyway Prest signed with PAC according to their coach.
Also, if by some form of magic your mob make the five and glenelg do as well... then what does mcgregor do...? I think that'd be pretty straight forward...

Would love to see the same for Dale Ellis on his return from the six games he played. from my mail he still kicked 50 or something but almost nothing against quality sides. If true then this mixed with his suspect shoulder makes picking him uo a waste of time. Lucky for TV that they'll have no problems calling a spade a spade if he doesnt deliver.
I saw most VH games and your mail is correct except he played 11 games.
Breakdown the stats:
Kicked 50 in 11 games: 4.55 goals per game.
Against the bottom 5:
Goolwa 8
Compass 5
Bays 9,7
Mclaren 7
Pongy 3
39 goals at 6.5 per game
Against the top 5:
Yank 4 (final)
Willunga 4
Strath 1,0 (came off injured in the final against Strath at Will in the bog)
Creek 2
11 goals at 2.2 per game.
So yes his performance against the top sides wasnt good, but he was extremely hampered for a lot of the year especially late. The 4 he kicked against yank in the finals were great - his shoulder was stuffed and he couldnt lift his arm at all, but he took some good chest marks and converted from a long way out.

Perhaps this is a way of bringing Goolwa/E.Bay/McLaren and the like back into the mix a bit sooner? As a point of interest MV will have cleared in excess of 20 players by the time the first ball is bounced in season 2011, perhaps they should plead their case aswell.
I'm certain your league heads are stronger and have more sense than the SFL's? I would also think they would be laughing at the SFL's decision?

Coming from one of the clubs that is mentioned above as "getting in to the mix sooner" I would suggest leaving it how it is currently. Its not easy but its challenging and we have found this year that if your club has a solid base, is honest with the position that your club is in and the expectations you have and you structure recruiting early and work hard, bringing players to the club is doable. Early signings also helps maintain the current squad and gives incentives for ex players to return. I dont think clubs expect arm chair rides and if running clubs, recruiting, sponsorship, playing and football in general was easy we would all be doing it. The clubs mentioned above, all have the scope to be successful on field without additional assistance because they have strong histories, the population to draw from and some talented locals (Goolwa is I think the only club to provide an AFL player, Bays and McLarens have large numbers in the south system). Mt Compass and Yankalilla are 2 current examples of clubs that have been down that have trurned things and I would say that Victor is a prime example. I believe they didnt play finals in the 2000's and will probably this year start close to favouritres for the flag. As a bottom club (at the moment) leave it be

My point exactly, why make rules for 1 and not another, makes a mockery of the points system! In all leagues and at all clubs the wheel turns and there will be a time when the bottom clubs of the GSFL will have swapped with the higher teams, makes all those bad times and hard work more memorable once you do have success, so the short term fix for more points is an absolute joke!
