Hard for those who weren't around when this was news, to appreciate just how big - and how frightening this was. It hit home more to many people when someone many watched every night lost a child, and was a truly dreadful part of Adelaide life in the lats 70's and early 80's.

The sheer magnitude was more than many comprehended could be possible. A premier that many had respected for long parts of his leadership, took his eye off the ball for too long and the state paid a massive price for it.
- the 36'ers could actually play decent basketball
Apollo in the mid to late 80's was one of THE sporting places to be in Adelaide. The 1986 team was one that stands tall in the great NBL teams of all time, losing just two games for the year, both right on the final buzzer. Hard to imagine now, just how good a job Ken Cole did in his two years here, before the dream went up in smoke.
- Its a Knockout on Sunday nights
The state teams in their individual colours - South Australia rarely seemed to win but a good, fun way to wind up a weekend

Watching BEHIND THE NEWS once a week in school-time. I reckon I also watched "The Colonials" on at least one occasion in both primary school and high school as well.

Bingo on both counts GWW. We used to watch BTN, then do a review of it at school which we were marked on. I used to enjoy BTN. But of course, like everything else, it changed format and therefore died in the ar$e.

The Colonials was a great series, albeit circa 1978.

BTN came back a couple of years ago and is as strong as ever. In my three years as a teacher, I havent worked in a school that doesn't do BTN weekly in each middle/upper primary class.

We also did BTN at my primary school - and there was a week where they talked about progress in Martin Bryant's trial and our teacher wanted us to design a board game based on one of the BTN stories. Most of the boys in the class (including me) decided to do one on the Pt Arthur massacre. Our teacher (who was a pompous git who got what she deserved at the end of the year - a transfer to Walkerville Primary, and she rubbed it in about how the kids there were so much better than us) went nuts at the class for even contemplating doing a board game on it!
