The Vics lost 4/0 at one stage until Harwood and Lewis smashed it around for the last wicket.
Go the Tigers.

Tassie have produced another young exciting prospect in Butterworth, taking 4 wickets this innings. I've been on the Tassie bandwagon since SA looked as though they were stuffed about 3 months ago and hope they can go all the way this year. They've produced the Aussie captain and have a host of young talented cricketers coming through the system. A bit off topic, but it goes to show they really should have a representative side in the national competition of their other favourite sport - Australian Rules Football.

This fascinating encounter continues
VI 9/283 DEC
TA 9/308 DEC
VI 1/4

Another declaration the TA declaration was far more acceptable as they
passed the total got the points and now have VI 1/4

TA were in DIRE STRAIGHTS at 7/194
Former keeper batsman Tim PAINE , now a batsman as Clingleffer is playing, was taken
to hospital with a mystery ailment.
He came back and batted 7 and and made 63* a REBukeable innings, and steered TA
to the 1st innings points.

PAINEs last few innings as a keeper /opening batsman was ordinary and he averaged
just under 5 with the bat.
His average just as a batsman is close to 60 odd this season.

whos gunna WIN ????

VI 9/283 DEC
TA 9/308 DEC
VI 7/311 STUMPS DAY 3
QUINNEY 82 on debut, has an impeccable technique suited to 4 day cricket
HUSSEY 80 should nearly have gone to the WI

P/C LADDER
-------------

NS 26[8]
VI 24[7]
WA 22[8]
QL 20[8]
TA 20 [7]
SA 06 [8]

Real traffic jam with 5 sides who can win the p/cup
Makes this game important as the winner if outright goes top [VI] or equal top [TA]

I thought VI was a cert but the loss of HODGE and maybe WHITE [for ROY] = harder
NS might be favs. with the best fast bowler in the world CLARKE available
I will barrack for TA

I assume you are referring to Stuart Clark without an 'e' and you have gone too far this time mal. I know you like to talk players up but to suggest Stuart Clark is the best fast bowler in the world is even more ridiculous than suggesting Watson deserves to be in Australia's 15 man World Cup squad.

ROD ROOSTER
In 2006-2007 CLARK was the best fast bowler in test matches in the world
He averaged about 18
Is the 4th fastest in most wickets in a bowlers first ten tests in AU history
Things will inevitablely change and others will surpass him in the future.
ROD what fast bowler bowled better in 2006-2007.? in the world ?
ROD my reference is in tests + pura cup games only.
His o/d form is nowhere near as good

SOOTERS
QUINNEY I have seen in the ford ranger games and he has a very nice
tehnique and lost his wicket wHen slogging in some games.
In previous posts in VI o/d games I have made a reference that QUINNEY
will be better suited in the p/c games.
He is a left hander and plays for the mighty ST KILDA cricket club.

mal 100% agree with your comment about Quinney. I think he will become a very good player but time will tell how right we are.

As for Stuart Clark, you are once again relying on statistics to back up your claims. I don't argue that Clark has been terrific over the past 18 months. He has been one of the best bowlers going around but stats don't tell everything. Ask all the opening batsmen around the world who they would least like to face and i doubt very much Clark would get a mention.

Still i'd have him in my team any day. I was one of Clark's doubters before this summer but i will accept that i was wrong and he is an excellent bowler more than worthy of the praise he receives but best fast bowler in the world is just a little bit over the top IMHO.

Tassie won with 2 balls to spare and 3 wickets in hand. What a game!

Tigers clinch thriller

Tasmania has jumped into second spot on the Pura Cup table after beating Victoria by three wickets in a thrilling finish to their encounter at Bellerive Oval.

Chasing 314 for outright points on the final day after earlier dismissing Victoria for 338 in its second dig, the Tigers were never really troubled until late in the day, losing seven wickets in pursuit of the runs with just two balls to spare.

With scores level, a no-ball from Victorian paceman Shane Harwood handed the Tigers victory as Brett Geeves (two not out) and Sean Clingeleffer (two not out) hung on to see their side home.

George Bailey (52) and man-of-the-match Luke Butterworth (26) looked like they would guide Tasmania past the total but they both lost their wickets in the second-last over of the day.

Michael Dighton led the Tasmanian scoring with 66 before he was caught in the 63rd over by Lloyd Mash from the bowling of Jon Moss after a skied mis-hit to mid-on.

Travis Birt was the next to go the following over, when he was run out by Adam Crosthwaite for 46.

Earlier, Moss captured the wicket of Michael Di Venuto for 30, while Tim Paine scored 46 before he was bowled by Andrew McDonald.

Besides the medium-pacers of Moss, the only bowler to trouble the Tigers' batsmen was Mick Lewis, who picked up 2-73.

Victoria had started the day at 7-311 but lost its last three wickets for just seven runs as it collapsed to be all out for 338.

Moss scored 17, including three fours, before he was out to a sensational caught and bowled from Butterworth (2-80).

Tigers quick Ben Hilfenhaus then wrapped up the tail, capturing the wickets of Shane Harwood for one and Darrin Pattinson for two.

Rob Quiney (82), stand-in skipper David Hussey (80) and all-rounder Andrew McDonald (59) all made half-centuries, while Michael Klinger (41) and Nick Jewell (27) helped push the Bushrangers total beyond 300 on day three.

The Tigers bowlers toiled hard, with captain Dan Marsh (2-42) denying both Quiney and Hussey centuries, and Brett Geeves (2-78) and Ben Hilfenhaus (4-82) also having success.

I think Tas has only ever made the final twice - and lost them both. It would be great if they could win.
