Agree. There was a massive gap between the bottom 4 & the top 6 last year. We've heard Yank & Strath have lost a few but they were along way in front. Compass will be better getting 2 very good 0 pointers back in Burdett & Braidwood (maybe Webb too). Creek will be better with the Warrens, Hately, Feast full time, Moore & Norman staying + a 3 others from the Bays & Sfl. Heard A premiership player from Strath has rocked up at the Creek! Greenbank is a huge pick up 4 Mclarens. Hopefully the gap will close but i can see the Gsfl being extremely strong in 2011. Victors my early flag prediction.

I'm a bit surprised to see you select Victor as early prediction WoW, I thought with the loss of Ellis brothers they might go backwards slightly and a club like L Creek who have recruited well, might surpass them.

Sometimes the loss of players is not always a bad thing..... These guys matched it with the top few last year, more games together should see them gel even better. Alot of good players between 25 - 27. Add in Jureck & especially Kruger to the midfield, they look pretty good. There 17's were good last year so that will give them some extra depth this year. Pressure is on Simmo!!
Creek, Willunga, Strath will all be up there again.

Really? That would be a big signing!

Just had a look at FB and it seems the young fella has signed to play at McLarens, great signing for McLarens!

State country player last year, Adam Rigg also off to McLaren, both A Grade premiership players at the Emus.

Glenelg News

Key recruit Jordan McMahon has now relocated from Melbourne joined his new team mates at training and eagerly looking forward to the 2011 season.

Other young hopefuls that have joined the club for 2011 are Matt Cranage who is a small forward from Edenhope, Wade Hancock who is a clever half forward from Wentworth and Jarrad Greenbank a tough on-baller from the Morphett Vale Football Club.

Yes he played for a season then got shafted in the deal to get the gun FF Wayne Pittman and Dale Ellis into the side (points problems). Pittman went on to play a handful of games for not much return - looked like he had a pretty big off-season. Dumb move which upset plenty.

Jurek struggled in the prior year at times - he could obviously play but was seemingly down on confidence. Hope he comes back with a vengence.

Footy Smarts wrote:Field of dreams, great info and break down. Would love to see the same for Dale Ellis on his return from the six games he played. from my mail he still kicked 50 or something but almost nothing against quality sides. If true then this mixed with his suspect shoulder makes picking him uo a waste of time. Lucky for TV that they'll have no problems calling a spade a spade if he doesnt deliver.

I saw most VH games and your mail is correct except he played 11 games.

Breakdown the stats:

Kicked 50 in 11 games: 4.55 goals per game.
Against the bottom 5:
Goolwa 8
Compass 5
Bays 9,7
Mclaren 7
Pongy 3

39 goals at 6.5 per game

Against the top 5:
Yank 4 (final)
Willunga 4
Strath 1,0 (came off injured in the final against Strath at Will in the bog)
Creek 2

11 goals at 2.2 per game.

So yes his performance against the top sides wasnt good, but he was extremely hampered for a lot of the year especially late. The 4 he kicked against yank in the finals were great - his shoulder was stuffed and he couldnt lift his arm at all, but he took some good chest marks and converted from a long way out.

Great work fod, stats don't lie so I doubt he will be overwhelmingly missed by victor.
Jurek back to the roos and whoever says mcgregor isn't being paid much is either out of the loop at the ebays or a liar because 1500 a game sounds like a lot to me....

No he will be missed. As I said, he was extremely hampered for a lot of the year. Fit - he is a quality inclusion for any side - he is a massive unit and takes the best defender (even when he was winged) and has one of the best long kicks I've seen in country footy.

id think that it would be highly unlikely that ken mcgregor would want to play at E/Bay for 400 a game, must be a HUUUUUGE sign on if his weekly payments are that low! he would have been on that much at Henley last year and they won the Div 1 Amateur Flag.

Maybe?!?!?!?!?! Unlikely. Connection or not, he'd still be getting in excess of $1,000 per game!
