No, Donny upset me.

i just dont get that bloke. There was nothing going on between us and Angle Vale, we were all playing the game in good spirit. A few comments here and there to the batters but all in good spirit, no abuse, nothing personal or any thing. Then suddenly Donny has exploded.

OKC bowls a ball to pogus which was hit over mid wicket from outside off stump, OKC said to him "do you actually know how to play a shot on the off side because thats where i am bowling" thats all he said. He didnt say it as a sledge he didnt say it in a derogative way, just asked a general question. Don went ape and booked OKC for accusing the batsmen of playing the wrong shot. OKC then questioned it and Don threw OKC's hat at him as it was the last ball of the over. It was that unprofessional it was a joke, both OTH and Angle Vale were laughing at Don because everyone knows what he is like.

Don just starts massive incidents when nothing is actually going on. i dont get it. He then went into the Angle Vale huddle after the game and said "well played today boys, Its just a shame that you had to play against a bunch of bad losers" OKC heard it and questioned that as well and rightly so, Don fired up and got his book out again. we were not bad losers at all, we certainly didnt expect to win with 57 on the board. We all shook hands after the game and there were no incidents between OTH players and Angle Vale players at all.

For all of this to happen when the game only went for 2 hours and nothing at all was going on between us and angle vale is a joke. For Don to get so involved in the game instead of umpiring is stupid. As soon as you question anything he does and he starts to realise he is wrong and looks like an idiot, he gets his book out. Its his way or the highway.

Last year we had to go to the tribunal to get neil off report for not having his shoe laces tied in a double knott And Don wasnt even the umpire in this game but he was watching and told the rookie umpire to report.. Now there is every chance we have need to do it again.

So frustrating when you rock up to a game when Don is umpiring, you just dont know what the rules are and if he doesnt make a report he doesnt get his commission.

First time you've bitten your tongue your whole career?

Laughing at him probably didn't seem to help, but how can you get done for 'telling the batsman where to hit it'!!

I was so close to shoving him when he threw my hat at me. Lucky or i would have actually been banned for life!

Unfortunately what can you do about it? Doesnt seem too many people are putting their hands up to become umpires these days, so just have to deal with it until i retire from playing :P :D

thats exactly right, i am not here to say lets get rid of him or sack him because there arent enough umpires as it is. I am just letting all my fellow PDCA players know of interesting incidents that happen over the wknd. It could also give OKC a bad image with rumours spreading that he was reported for whatever when in reality pulling a funny face was worse that what OKC did on the wknd
