And wait for the blatant greed and rip offs to start.....

Have spoken to friends up there, and they say people are just feral.

we were only discussing this last night over a slab. Anna Bligh was saying that they will not be putting power back to on at least 100,000 homes until each one has been inspected and cleared by an electrician. That's going to be some serious coin to be made for the electricians for very little work.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep

No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Centenary highway from Jindalee to city is now open
Coronation drive is now open but under traffic control

I won't forget the stench of both the mud & rotting food in a hurry, nor just how heavy a completely water logged mattress/lounge suite is.

Tips me lid to everyone helping today, but reckon we had the easy job - just chucking ruined stuff onto a truck. Owners have to start cleaning inside in every nook n cranny - first hosing out, then with some sort of bleach. No idea just how many times before the stink goes.

Hats off to the household with a 30cm fish proudly displayed on his letter-box!

KP has raised $8500 for the flood disaster through his profile and website.

Guess he should be judged more on that than what people think he "might" be.

I have been in NSW all week with my son's sport. We had no TV coverage all day, but on getting back to the cabin each night were glued to the TV for hours before bed watching the floods 'unfold' and then up first thing in the morning watching again. I've shed a few tears and there's also been lots of 'awww' moments whilst watcing these broadcasts. I've just read through this entire thread where once again I had tears welling.

I hope that all safooty-ites and safooty-ite family members are safe and well.

What an astronomical clean up this is going to be :(

My heart goes out to all affected @};-

There are obviously many 'hero' stories - but one I found most inspiring was the tug boat man who used his tug to reposition the path of that massive (concrete?) bridge/walkway as for it not to run into another bridge on its way out to sea. Amazing stuff.

It is - and as the days are going by we are starting to hear more and more from the survivors and rescuers about just what happened to the deceased and missing.

Horrid.

The people at Nearmap do a far better job than GoogleEarth. They may not have all areas in the country covered yet, but at least they update major cities regularly, and have already got up this section of the Brisbane River and surrounds.
