The batting orders were interesting
SA promoted POLLARD/CHRISTIAN to continue the good start
WA lost GAYLE early, theres only 1 player capable of striking at between 150-200 left in the line up and make near a ton
That player is RONCHI, and he comes in with 6 overs to go

Dont coaching staff think ?
VOGES + NORTH are lovely players to watch, but dont hit hard and high immediately
They are nice batters, not king hitters
When chasing 200 +, you gotta bat RoNchi b4 these guys

You want your hitters to be coming in with 8 overs to go or less. Pollard is a bit different because he hits the ball cleaner than most so I'd be bringing him in from any wicket falling after 10 overs.

Surely not if your chasing such a hefty total? :? North and Beaton batted WA out of the game.

North 48 off 29, not sure Ronchi could have done much better.

What they needed was to get to within 60 off 4 or 5 overs or so and then have Ronchi come in and smash a quick 30 or so. Obviously things didn't go to plan since they lost the game but Ronchi isn't a 70 or 50 guy, he's a 40 off 20 guy so should go in later IMHO.

Yeah North 48 off 29, thanks to 16 off 3 balls, most of his innings he was striking at around 100 if not a touch over. But you present a good point, Ronchi is definately one of those players who doesnt seem to convert starts often enough.

Whats happened to blizzard?!!?

Blizzard opening with Harris, Klinger, Ferg, Pollard, Christian to follow.. suddenly the batting lineup doesnt look to bad IMO..

The problem was apart from North, nobody really made a good contribution. 4 scores 13-24 best SR of the 4 at 127. Get another bloke or two to hit 30 or 40 at quicker pace and the game's alive a bit longer. Margin also blew out a bit at the end when the tail scratched around there.

Lol. We just hit 200 with just about the best top order batting you can ask for and you want to change the top order?

What I'd like though is another guy at 7/8 who can launch the ball a bit as well as bowl his 4 overs. Afridi was perfect for that. Rashid is a million miles from that. Just another hack spinner who can't bat, we have plenty of those guys. We have plenty of top order hit and miss type sloggers, we have a couple of good nudgy/nurdley guys for some recovery batting and Pollard/Christian give our middle order some power. Our bowling looks ok when we have a spearhead (Tait when he's available) but could really do with another option who also occasional adds batting power. With an import slot wasted on a guy who doesn't bowl and doesn't bat why not buy up one of those types? There are plenty around the place internationally. Albie Morkel? Jacob Oram? Yousuf/Irfan Pathan? I understand not every player is available (otherwise Afridi would be here) but surely there's someone better than Rashid to fill that role.

Marcus North is an average 20/20 player
He is usually a 25 runs of 22 balls man when he bats

Norths 48 [29] was perhaps his greatest ever knock in this format
Generally he piss farts around , gets his runs at just over a run a ball, and makes batting for the rest of the batsman too difficult
North was a one off tonight
But after watching him for a few years at 20/20 he is fortunate to be selected

MAL... North is crap in any format....especially 20/20..

His stats don't tell a true tale tonight.
When his team needed him to take more risks,,, ie: 2 and a hlf runs a ball, he didn't.
WA never going to win but you may as well put your team in with a chance or try to.

NORTH CAREER
TESTS
Started brilliantly with a few tons, but hit or miss as well
But once they worked on his weaknesses he faltered
AVERAGE

SS
Good batsman for a decade or so
GOOD

O/D DOMESTIC
Is a matchwinning type, every so often makes a big score
VERY GOOD

20/20 DOMESTIC
Waste of time, never seen him win a game in this format
Bats too slow, does not hit over the top which is needed batting after the first 6 overs
ORDINARY

I can't believe you have North as very good in the 50 over domestic format over the shield format.
He is way too slow for anything under 150 overs per innings.

He is a better spinner than Horry tho. ;)

One thing he is
When hes batting well, he is a glorious batsman, very good to watch, a beautiful timer of the ball
Made a few tons at Test Level, so he has the talent and can bat

Why did you rate him a better O/D player than SS then ?

We certainly had the rub of the green last night;
-Ronchi missed stumping, Harris goes on and punishes WA attack
-Manou 'stumping', I knew we couldn't lose after that
-Voges run out, Edmonson manages to put up a roadblock forcing Voges to change direction costing him dearly
-Klinger catch, definetly worthy of more recognition
-Christian gets injured, Harris takes ball and gets wicket first ball
-Christian replaced by Vaughan, Vaughan takes a very difficult catch

While we had some luck and good fortune the loss of Ferg and Dan Christian will be a concern.

Are there any other keeper/batsmen going around in grade cricket? Our current gloveman is a one-trick pony with the bat.
