Comments from a Qld general practitioner on a medical forum.
The plane mentioned is a build it yourself ultra-light kit he had just completed over several years.
Thanks for your concern guys. I am stranded in Gatton, which is dry and with power, although flaky mobile reception (still internet though!).
I am no longer close to my plane. It and I have drifted apart.
It was hangared at Grantham, and has become a boat and is heading for Brisbane. (It featured in the TV news apparently.)

Most of our patients and staff can't come in and I am spending most of my time arranging scripts for people who are also stranded here and can't get home to their tablets. My latest drama is trying to find my aged care patients.
They got evacuated to the hospital, who then sent them to the other nursing home in town, where they slept in corridors etc, and have now been transferred to the high school!

A very fluid (literally) situation. Bucketing rain at the moment, causing choppers to fly very low over my surgery.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

We closed up early at work today -building is safe, management just wanted people to get home safely.
Fortunately for me my rail line is still operating, so I could get home.
Wasn't much fun walking to the station though with flashes of lightning in the sky and a metal tipped umbrella :-ss

Massive inundation of the local golf course and the water level may rise over a nearby rail bridge.

Bloody Terrible.

Good luck to the Queenslanders out there.

Have texted a couple of people I know up there, and they're OK at the moment. One couple their sons house has gone, and they're pool had been emptied 4 times in the past week! Just nuts.

If we keep getting all of this rain, surely it has a chance to affect the many towns on the Murray. One can only hope it doesn't get to that situation but after what has happened up North, who knows.

It will eventually flow into the Murray-Darling basin, but hopefully it won't coincide with heavy rainfall in regional SA.

I'm hearing it won't get to our end of the basin. It'll fill up Menindee Lakes and spread out over floodplains further up.
Least of anyone's worries at the moment though.

Thinking of you all who are up there at the moment.

Saw some footage on the news here last night...just awful...thoughts go out to everyone in Qld but especially to any forumites caught up in it all.

One good thing about Facebook...the godbrat and her sis are still posting their teenage crap so I know they're ok in Nerang...didn't want to try and phone in case it gets in the way of their family over here trying.

This is going to be a very stupid question no doubt, but how can a dam be at 160%? surely if it has the capacity of 160% that should be the 100% figure.

I have absolutely no idea about how this dam is constructed or anything but I'm just interested on how it works ...

Sorry for being dense...

i dont know that answer i just know they said it was 160% and could rise to 200%. Not sure as you would think 100% is full and over flowing but i have no idea how they make the figures
