Learner Driver son has "turned the corner". Drives have jumped from white-knuckle, "May the force be with you" affairs to quite relaxing journeys along the motorways of Brisbane. So much so I even allowed him to drive my new car with < 1000k on the clock!

Never would have thunk it possible :D

our family is at tthe point, with all us "kids" out of mum and dads house now, that every couple of weeks (or longer sometimes...) someone will ring around and have everyone for tea. most often we do seem to end up at "mum and dads" but we do share it around a bit. it makes a nice change to have "the olds" for tea, rather than being their guest. somehow though i always seem to be the one to supply the six pack :?

lol

Yes I plan to start setting up a once a fortnight 'tea at mum and dads' house as well.

I have a friend who does this and it's continued on for about 3 years (although hers is a weekly thing).
I think it's important as I know how busy we all got when we moved out of home,
and think it will be nice to at least know there is a set point where everyone gets to see everyone.

Especially with a growing grandchild in the mix.

And we still will see eldest son and family at sports as we still go watch him play/do whatever it is he's doing at whatever given time - but yeah think it will be good to just have that set regular thing.

O:)

The other advantage of it being a regular thing, if something comes up and someone cant make it, it is no big deal as there will be another one in a week/fortnight etc. it ends up being quite a relaxing thing as there is no pressure to turn up, dress up etc. and the grandkids get to show off their latest skills in front of a larger audience

come to think about it, it has been a while since we have had ours! might have to make some phone calls tonight and organise a dinner. i reckon i might invite us all around my brothers place, surely it must be his turn to host

We have tea at Nanna's every Monday night, been doing it since both mum and my uncle moved out of home.

Over the years it's gone from just the 4 of us, to adding 2 other little ones (who are now 22) and then one more (who is now 20) and they're bringing their girlfriends along too!

Holidays.

Up at 5:30 and down to Tennyson in the shallows and home already with 14 nice yellow fin whiting. About to get them on the BBQ with a frosty cold Coopers Clear to wash them down.

Breakfast of champions.
