Maddinson- 365 runs @ 52.14, 100's-2
Ferguson- 337 runs @ 48.14, 100's-2

Fergusons season to date isnt too bad but there are other batsmen ahead of him and this is the first real season Ferguson has done anything in sheffield shield cricket.

Another relevant batting statistic for the shield - average:

Highest averages
Player Runs HS Ave
MJ Clarke 152 113 152.00
MG Johnson 121 121* 121.00
PM Nevill 271 108* 90.33
UT Khawaja 598 214 74.75
AB McDonald 372 163 74.40
CJ Duval 142 87 71.00
SE Marsh 414 137 59.14
MJ Cosgrove 510 159 56.66
NJ Maddinson 365 137 52.14
CA Lynn 461 142* 51.22

Seems as if we are going to use shield stats as a basis for warranting whilst people should be in the test side based on stats one person has just as much claim as anyone.

Thats why i think Clarke should go back to the Shield, he is a class above that level. He cant hit a score in test cricket at the moment so if he can go back to the shield and hit a few big scores which he is more than capable off then maybe he could come back into the test side inform.

No where have i said Clarke should be banished from the test team for good, he is just currently not up to it, and his test selection is not currently performance based.

Mitchell Johnson being dropped has turned his form around this summer.

Selectors need to do the same with Michael 'golden child' Clarke

Yeah you clap, but standing ovations are for centuries and Michelles, IMO.

Tailenders are a bit of an exception, although I do think Mitch should've been an all-rounder by now.

A number 8 making a 50 is like a top order batsman making 100

All out 280

Im not to dissapointed with that score, especially considering we are only batting with 10 blokes while Clarke throws away his wicket every innings.

There were more positives in the way we went about our innings than most other innings this series, still a few to many bad shots to get out (Hughes, Clarke, Haddin, Smith) but most looked more incline to be patient build partnerships and build innings.

England wont throw 4 wickets away so i would expect they will pass our total easily, i think they may hit about 400.
