5th Ashes test at the SCG - 3rd to 7th Jan 2011

Is this the first time Australia has fielded three Michaels in the same team?

Clarke, Hussey and Beer?

I can think of Slater, Kasprowicz and Bevan as previous Michaels in the test side but can't think of too many others, or that any combination of them featured in the same side all at once.

He batted at 7 today but yes his batting alone is not up to test standard just yet.

Sorry, he's at 7 now isn't he

Anyone else would have been turfed out but since he's the exciting kid from NSW with potential, we will drop him down the order instead for another go. Ferg would have failed twice and gonzo...

Is it going to be another case of England bowling on a minefield and batting on a road today?

They make it look that way because they are that much better than us, it's amazing what patience can do for you in a test match.........................and they get to face our meaningless bowling. the poms bowl with purpose, we just bowl.

8/199, Smith out for 18, Siddle 2. The Beer must be good batting below the Hilf.

Whats the fascination with South Australians thinking Ferguson is so hard done by.

First class averages

Ferguson- 35.62, 100's-6 in 99 innings, HS-132
Smith- 41.25, 100's- 4 in 40 innings, HS-177

Ferguson's 4 day playing career is average at best, based on performances their would probably be 20 blokes ahead of him.

Simple aussies cant play a swinging ball and when we bowl we dont swing it half as much. We need to learn the art of swing bowling and batting against it. Still not patient enough, too many guys getting caught behind the wicket hanging their bat out. I dont mind going at 2 an over just let the balls go ffs.

I think that's what the selectors problem has been over the past 18 months, they should look at recent performances and who is in-form, we don't pounce on in-form players, Klinger and Khawaja spring to mind immediately, they were burning it up 12 months ago. We'll end up missing the boat on the current crop that are turning it on in domestic level.

Dutchy, you have no idea do you? Stop taking cheap shots at me and try to learn something about the game, or at least try and understand the point people are trying to make.

And FYI, no I didn't clap the captain, no point. Yes, I had a drink with the opposition, unless they were like you. And I only ever appealled when I was certain the batsman was out. I didn't cheat like Prior.

No idea? How do you know that? Show me where it is in the rules you cannot appeal to the umpire?

Cheap shot? You had one at me in your 2nd paragraph!

When you cant defend your point with facts, you start the personal abuse.

exactly thats my point, Fergusons not in that great of form either, there are 6 other players this season who have hit more runs at a better average than he has. Plus another 20 odd who are averaging more but havent hit as many runs.

I see it as Blind loyalty to South Aussies, who tend to always think they are so hard done by, refer to Adelaide United soccer thread and Crows football thread as further evidence. Its the umpire fault in those thread and in the cricket thread its the selectors fault the South Aussies cant get in.

I think it goes back to the non selections of Jamie Siddons and Darren Lehmann who i do think were hard done by but that doesnt mean every south aussie is, it gives me the runs.
