On 7 news just then it said the 19 year old from Port Lincoln that was arrested over the Streaky Bay king hit death is a promising local footballer. Anyone know who it was?

Just a reminder that you shouldn't mention too much because if the legal ramifications (which there will be in this case).

Bad result for two promising young footy players.

In other news, a certain MR person appears to be inked in as the next President, PLFL. ;)

It is on the courts website who is facing the charges.

It is ALLEGEDLY a Tasman footballer.

On facebook it says ALLEGEDLY the incident was started by a TFC teammate (I will give you 1 guess who) but unfotunatly the accused became involved, initially to break up the fight, but his later blow proved lethal.

*all of this info is ALLEGEDLY

The youth of today are a disgrace and I worry about the future that my grandkids will have to face with what I hear.
The senseless fighting, the disgraceful way people leave places like Port Niell. What is wrong with you people? Can you not go to an event and behave, not break bottles, not break windows and not take your rubbish with you? Can you not have alcohol and fight and act like twats?

Lock these people up, if they fight, litter or are a public nuisense then lock them up and when they face court give them a harsh penalty! It ias the only way they will learn.

We need to get tougher people!

What is this place coming to? I hope the government put up the legal drinking age to 21, I will be lobbying for it. The youth of today are an embaressment to this country!

No need for ALLEGEDLY any more....this is from the Adelaide now website

A MAN accused of fatally king-hitting Dean Johnson at a party has applied for release on home detention bail.
Nicholas Daniel Cunningham, 19, was originally charged with assault causing serious harm after the incident at Streaky Bay on New Year's Eve, but this was updated to manslaughter following the 18-year-old's death.

During a phone link-up to the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today, lawyers for Cunningham requested a home detention report to enable him to live with his mother at Murray Bridge.

Magistrate Bob Harrap said he would order a report once a home telephone number was provided.

"If you can fax the details I will then physically order the report later this afternoon or first thing in the morning," he said.

"As soon as I'm provided with a telephone number I'll put in a request for a home detention report."

Mr Harrap told Cunningham that report would not guarantee him bail.

Dianne Clarke, prosecuting, said Cunningham should not be released on bail because his crimed was too serious and witness investigations were still underway.

"We oppose bail on the basis of the seriousness of the offence and the investigation is still in it's infancy," she said.

"We have 12 pages of names of people who have either been spoken to or are yet to be spoken to.

"We want to ensure the integrity of their statements."

Cunningham will return to court on Monday.

Boys - Speak to some of the lads that were up there and remember that the paper sensationalize things.
Never good when this lad has passed away but there are two sides to this story.
Hope a lesson is learnt how easy a life can be taken and that we are not invinceable out of this whole mess.

Daics i think you have forgotten what it is like to be young, we have all f...d up. This kid is going to pay for it . It happened in yours and my day but it wasnt reported in the paper as much.

After speaking to quite a few people, including one regular forum poster, you're right, it's a very different story we hear...

Not good for anyone concerned, regardless.

Ok, I may be showing my age and my comments were not directed at one individual. The youth of today in general give me the sh1ts with their behaviour!

So what is this very different story media park?

If anyone is going to assault another individual under any circumstances (besides self defence) then this is an example of what can happen. I hope you all take note and think about it before you next decide to clobber someone.

It is a little worrying.
Some comments on facebook are getting a bit too much to read.

I know we all deal with grief our own way, but Graffiti on the side of a building and drag racing along the highway isn't helping the situation.

I agree that the young ones today need to have a good hard look at themselves

I think I know what MP is referring to.... There are two sides to every story and this is no different but the deceased did not deserve the final outcome for what allegedly occurred that night.

on footy news I hear several PLFL footballers from various clubs have arranged 'meetings' with GFFL clubs. It seems every year there are more and more blokes wanting to leave. Surely the PLFL must see that they have a problem with so many guys seeking better pastures

Heater, while I have been disillusioned by the PLFL recently you continually bring up this mass exodus of PL players to GF to try and promote the GFFL. It's simply not happening, as many come to PL as leave for GF. The thought of looking better than you are must be enticing for the types that leave......

PL has some problems, but no where near what you continually sell to all. The PL standard will also always be substantially better, this is almost indisputable, in the nicest of ways to say it mate, lose the inferiority complex
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....
