Still happens these days, like having a beer with the opposition after a game, again probably something you never did...

I haven't seen the applauding captain thing at club level, but at different rep games I've played it isn't uncommon. As for the beer thing, happens regularly at all levels although Allan Border took it to new levels lol.

As captain of my side i always make sure we clap the opposition captain before he takes strike for his first ball.

Even if occasionally i dont recogonise him under the lid and applaud him before his second ball instead.

Once the selectors realise he is a pea hearted front running dud the sooner the better for Australian cricket.

Khawaja proved it today inject some youth into the side.

Was very happy with the way Hughes and Watto went about it on a pitch and weather that was doing a bit. Both really need to work on turning starts into big ones but the basis is there imho.

Haha your acting like it was a mine field. Hughes is rubbish and will continue to fail until his footwork improves. His shot to get out was very ordinary.

funnily enough i do agree with that. His shot was ordinary and thats an area which is letting him down (getting out to one bad shot while set) BUT i think there was definate technique improvement from the Melbourne test, mainly his ability to let balls go. Given time i think he will work on his back foot issue, he is young and has time. Remember him and Watto almost batted a whole session on a pitch that was doing a little against bowlers who bowled the whole side out in about a session only a week ago.

If the pitch wasnt a minefield it says alot about how well Clarke is going at the moment hey.

His back foot is going to square leg when delivered short.
A sure sign he's got issues against the short ball.

Dutchy, you have no idea do you? Stop taking cheap shots at me and try to learn something about the game, or at least try and understand the point people are trying to make.

And FYI, no I didn't clap the captain, no point. Yes, I had a drink with the opposition, unless they were like you. And I only ever appealled when I was certain the batsman was out. I didn't cheat like Prior.

Judging by the amount of failed referrals, Prior obviously feels pretty certain they're out too....

Who gives a shit if he appeals. It's his prerogative, and until he gets spoken too, which I doubt he will, then good luck to him.

I don't even think it is moving that much. He is pinned to the crease. There is no way there was an improvement in Hughes' techique in Sydney over Melbourne.

I thought he was letting alot more balls go which was great to see, he was also playing alot straighter trying to hit through mid on, mid off rather than through square.

imho was definate improvement.

Leaving the ball is more a change of temprament, not a change in technique. He is still not presenting the full face of the bat when hitting through mid on in my view and he's still poking at the ball through the third slip to point and he was squared up again by a short ball directed at the hip.

The Song Remains the Same.

Poor shot by huss against one of the worst bowlers going around.
This innings may make or break smith. Can he step up?
