With the weather forecast for tomorrow (New Years Eve) being a temperature of 43 degrees, Harness Racing SA officials had been considering a later start for the Friday night race meeting at Globe Derby.

However after checking the updated forecast today (Thursday), it suggests that a south westerly change will move through Adelaide during the afternoon; temperatures later in the day should start to become milder.

Based on this forecast, it has been decided to start the race meeting at the originally advertised time (6.33pm). Stewards will continue to monitor this.

Mr Peter Smith

Even though it was bad driving on both, the difference one horse was still there in the finish where as the other was tailed off, thats the reason why only one driver was suspended.

Star Legacy was expected to run last and Disco Invasion was expected to win, so which driver failed to finish in the best possible position ???

expected to win or expected to be hard to beat ?......surely on form the winner & possibly tidswells horse was also expected to be hard to beat in that race ?

for the record the bookie opened the winner up shorter than disco invasion however roles were reversed through betting, he opened it at 1.70 & disco at 2.20

STAR LEGACY
Every driver has his right to lead, hand up or whatever
BUT
What gives me the crapps is NOW if Star Legacy hands up next time it races, or consistently hands up in future
We all should expect Star legacy to try and lead
That is unless we get one of those change of driving tactics about 5 seconds b4 they jump !

I saw a very questionable drive in another race on this programme ....

I see that Tattsbet have opened a market on the Interdomion held in NZ with the final on April 9th 2011.

Have any other betting agencies opened a market yet?

Going on the markets, it looks like Australian horses will continue their domination of this event despite it being held in NZ.

When have i said that they're that good?

Was just making the point they've opened a market on the Inter and was asking if anyone else knew of others for comparison.

As for not betting fixed odds on local trots, probably the same reason as to why there is only 1 bookie at GDP these days.
Basically too hard to make a $ out of it due to the perceived corruption that has plauged the industry for decades would be my GUESS.
Also, whilst their are people like you preying on their mistakes, what hope would they have ???? ;)

Im still confused, whats the horses form or odds got to do with it? If a driver feels he is going to get the best result from his horse by leading why should he hand up to the fav?

He shouldnt Dutchy, there is nothing in the rules that says a driver should hand up to a shorter priced horse. Unfortunately there are many so called punters such as Mal and Bayman that want to take the gamble out of gambling, pretty soon the stewards will be issuing instructions to the drivers before the race. End result will be very boring predictable races with unbackable short priced fav's drivers will become too frightenned to show some spirit and flare. Same thing happened in race 7, Roger Roddick at 50/1 with its terrible form refused to hand up the death to Gee Whiz Fizz 1.30 now most people would have thought GWF would have gone straight to the front and clobbered them, as with Star Legacy Roddick had the position and decided to hold it  - made the race a little more interesting and i bet a few punters who backed something else got a little excited.

In both cases if the roles were reversed it would be a very different story, cant have roughies doing a job on shorter priced horses - if Star Legacy sat outside of Disco Invasion and did the same thing then the stewards should throw the book at him.

Stewards IMO seem to have it the wrong way around but we all know who to thank for that don't we Mal ;)
