Indigenous players to play for Sturt

Postby Sojourner » Thu Dec 30, 2010 11:49 am

With Richard Tambling being selected by Sturt in the mini draft it got me to thinking, - how many indigenous players have played for Sturt say since the 1970's to today? Who would be recognised as the best ever indigenous player to have played at Sturt in any era?

Eddie Fry
Don Dickie
Danyle Pearce
Dudlee Ahchee
Merv 'Muffy' Kartinyeri
Joe Wyatt
Jeremy Johncock
Charlie Sharples
Josh Cubillo

Michael Graham and Roger Rigney probably the best 2 ever.

Looks like Cameron Stokes will be added to the list once he puts pen to paper with the Double Blues for next season...

i played against Michael in Darwin in about 1989, in a friendly, i can tell you he was was just as quick as he had been in his Sturt days. He must have been in his 40's then.
