Totally agree, CP, good post.

The only problem is the entry rights of regular SANFL supporters.

That aside, I don't have an issue with the Norwood fixture for round 1, for the following reasons:

1. The Alberton fixture in recent years between these clubs wasn't getting the attendance Port would have been hoping for or expecting, so from their perspective, why shouldn't they give this a go?

2. Norwood has had a good run in recent years with early season fixtures, particularly round 1 games - Every club needs a turn at the prime fixture, this is Port's.

3. As a Norwood supporter, I expect to go to opposition venues when it is THEIR home game - Whether it's Alberton or West Lakes matters little to me.

In fact to take it further, from my own personal perspective regarding my club, I don't ever see the point in worrying about the draw .. Over the course of the season you're either good enough to beat enough opposition to play finals, or you're not, it's pretty simple and I think blaming the draw is a soft option.

Hear, hear.

I agree entirely.

Thats my gripe. Not worried about venue. I dont care where we play, if we win enough games we will make finals, pretty simple.
Just want the same rights normally afforded to me and i bet it wont happen. Kids for free is a great selling point for the sanfl but i bet kids have to pay for curtain raiser, i bet a few families stay home.

I reckon all SANFL supporters would have every right to go nuts over that, if it turns out to be the case mate

Does that mean that everyone under 18 will get in for free on those days at Footy Park? Or perhaps, they say under 18 get in for free up until a certain time, like they do for the Royal Show when they have cheaper tickets.

I would think U18s free up until the start or 1/4 time of the SANFL game

If as a member you dont get the same rights at footy park as a curtain raiser as you would at a suburban ground then I agree that a lot of people wont go and the idea of merging port wont be beneficial

I really doubt that they will have SANFL pricing for those games. They will quite probably have to let season ticket holders in if they bought the rights to see that game. But I would be calling the club and getting clarification on what rights I had, or would be likely to have if they haven't sorted out the fine details as yet. And if I got told my season ticket got me in to all games except those at footy park I'd be calling 5AA and voicing a complaint there.
