4th Ashes Test : MCG

Ponting to make a gritty first innings ton. I may be a bit of a dreamer, but the script reads a bit like Steve Waugh's 2003 last-ball-of-the-day century at the SCG. Waugh was way out of form and copping criticism from every angle and silenced them in memorable fashion. Hopefully we actually end up winning the test though!

Hmm didnt Waugh announce his retirement before the test? Thats what made it that little bit more memorable? I wouldnt be suprised to see Ponting pull stumps after this series either, i would imagine the aussie selectors will allow him to go out on his own terms being such a champion for the game as he has been.

Steve Waugh was under the pump at the time to make some runs but he didn't retire until the following summer.

Hughes gives his wicket away. 2 down now, need a solid partnership for this wicket.

Watto was unlucky
Dropped twice , but caught for 5 on the 3rd offering
Unlucky becoz had he been dropped 40 times in this dig he would have made 100

AU 2/37
EG on top, but why does Strauss continue to win the toss and put AU in to bat?
I have a possible reason, perhaps he is scared to bat first on bowler friendly decks as he bats as the opener ?

3 down now. Great catch, but Punter looking lost at the crease at the moment. Time for Pup to stand up.

Ponting is injured and I think he has probably put his own interests before that of the team.
