Sheffield Shield to the Bay

Postby Dirko » Wed Dec 22, 2010 9:31 am

Heard that the Redbacks will be playing Tassie in the Shield game from the 10th - 13th March at Glenelg Oval, as the Oval will be in use for the Kings of Leon concert.

Alright ! Come on down ! 8)

So offers of free soccer tickets and free KOL tickets is not value????? banking on the Dudbacks to make the membership value for money personally I'm glad the SACA has these other events as it keeps the cost of membership down....

I hate soccer and KOL. I pay my membership to see the Redhacks/Australia. That's 2 games they've moved from the AO this season.

Entry for a Shield game is free anyhow. What's the issue? I'm sure you can still get a Pims from the Bar.

Seriously, who wants to go and see one of the worst bands ever?
I'd be surprised if they get 15,000 to Adelaide Oval.
Why move a game of Cricket for some crap band?
It's Somma Time!

I'm not exactly up with the modern music scene but after hearing snippets of KOL I'm not sure how they haven't yet received a copyright infringement from Noiseworks. Who makes a career out of being a Noiseworks cover band? Only during these dire times for popular music would it ever happen. I'd rather go to a teeball match.

Doesn't get any better, free entry courtesy of SACA membership, sit in teh Bay Bar and Bistro and have a few pints, wonder round the oval, free parking, 15 min from home all good.

My SACA membership just became more worthwhile.

Can't wait
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Agree Jimbo, it's bad enough going there during the footy season and seeing my team get flogged, apparently the pitch and surroundings for the futures game there was pretty ordinary, certainly not first class standard. But I think we had better get used to it, my mail is that the 100k spent by the Holfast Council was on the condition that a certain amount of games were played there by the SACA's. I certainly hope they have done something to the seating in the grandstands to cope with the hoards that will swarm to the Bay.

No you make a fair point, we have a 100 million dollar grandstand with all the modern cons, outstanding seating and we move to an oval with re located footy park seats and the rest are heritage listed. I look forward to your next informative post.

There's lawn hill areas around 2/3 of the oval, trees for shade on tennis side. the "beer garden" in front of the club and no escalators to contend with to get to the bar or loo.

Should be a great few days at the Bay

then when vfl whoops afl starts at the adelaide oval the saca wont be able to get any revenue from outside sources then......i can't see any problem because lets face it no more than 200 people go to any one day at the sheffield shield & on weekdays it is less than 50 people, i'll be happy to walk over from work to watch the last hour or so of the day & as for the weekend i can walk to the bay oval rather than drive into the city, had the shield game be moved to elizabeth (not that they have a pitch) i'd drive up there to watch the match over the weekend anyway...don't be lazy because if you are really interested you'd make the effort to go, generally people don't go they just complain
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway
