That definitely belongs in this thread...very lucky fella.

it is being fought for, but the media seem to focus on the protests being about the redundancies. it is for the redundancies, the removal of leave loading and teh reduction in long service leave entitlements.

supposedly foley has been quoted as saying that he doesnt need to negotiate for ithe reductions as the conditions are written into legislation, which he can change whenever he wants to so we just have to cop it, or words to that effect.

i think that him and his mate mike know they arent going to be around much longer and are just going to railroad through whatever they want in the mean time.

EDIT: they also rushed the changes to the entitlements through on the exact same date and time they were giving themselves a massive super boost. it didnt get much coverage as the media were all in the lockin for the budget release. no problems feathering their own nests, but the rest of us can bend over and cop whatever they want to dish out!!

Tipper that is crap and they will not win the next election doing that. He needs to nogotiate or they will be illegal what he is saying is that he can do what he wants to do. If I was an elected member I would vote against this.

but that is my point, i think he already realises they wont win the next election, so it is the perfect opportunity to do it. one final (or i fear one of many) two fingered salute to the electorate before he settles down on his generous pension....

and supposedly it is legal, the budget was passed, the reductions to entitlements included. the union is fighting it, but i honestly dont know how well they will go. they had to go to court as the industrial relations comission ruled that they had no jurisdiction over the argument. something to do with our entitlements being in the legislation or something. the union is having to go to court to prove that the commission do have jusrisdiction over the case, go figure!!

unfortunately every time it is reported the comments online are always about "useless public servants" or "bludgers" etc. there have been rally's outside parliament house and we get accused of ripping the public off by attending. i know that no one from my workplace got paid for the time they attended. My boss received an email on the morning of each one to remind him that any staff attending would do so in their own time and would be docked from their pay for it. they couldnt use flexi time etc. he was instructed to take a list of names of staff attending and forward it to hr. mild intimidation at the least.....

Am in the same boat, work in emergency services and we already do not get leave loading and now Foley and friends have changed the emergency services act to remove days off of our long service leave. We had no chance to bargain, the act was changed which overrides our EBA.

I just hope the unions withdraw all their monetary backing to the ALP and that the lasting legacy for Foley and Rann is that they were seen as the 2 who were responsible for decimating the ALP in SA.
