lets just Blame the entire SACA management as they refused to change their policy of 1 year contracts for every player. Perhaps our coaches should be put on the same contract policy..... could save us $$$ as we only have to ride out the year then let them go after they fail.......

Not quite true. The contract SACA offered was three years but had performance based clauses within it. Cricket QLD offered the same contract without the performance based clauses. It was pre-Cox, in the days of Marsh (as were a great deal of other decisions that SACA currently are riding out).

Thanks mate I was sure it was Marsh. The old man's memory isn't what it used to be.

I found that funny when Jamie Cox said he was happy with the squad the redbacks have at the moment, even more hilarious was that the last one day game against Vic,that he offered T.Lang a contract to move states and play for SA.Not a personal attack but when someone is 29 and Ben Edmondson is in his thirties these are surely only filling gaps for a couple of years, instead of if need to go interstate and recruit get players much younger like Tom Cooper who should give service for alot longer.

SMAC - It was widely reported that Harris left because he was only offered a 1 year contract.
For obvious reasons I ain't going to say you are incorrect ;) but is it possible you've heard wrong on this one ?

The fact is he left. As one of the few home-grown boys we should of offered him whatever it took. He wanted to stay but in the end he had to do whats right for himself. Probably good decision on his behalf as i feel that he wouldnt be playing for australia if he stayed here. Hope he comes home one day but hope cox and his cronies are gone before that day.

He was offered 2 years with the option of a 3rd if he met certain performance conditions according to this article at the time:

Thanks for clearing that up Hondo.

One wonders if the SACA should pull out the cheque book more often.
You read stories on the Chappells etc and even they refer to the fact that the SACA, when Bradman was running the show, often treated the money as their own.

The recruitment of Barry Richards was only able to happen due to a generous sponsorship from Coca-Cola, not sure about Sobers and Garner.

QLD over the years have financially recruited Chappell, Border, Thommo, Richards, Botham etc etc.
Players go to NSW for test selection.

I'm struggling to come up with a name of a player who wasn't over the hill, and became a regular test player that came to the SACA.
Maybe Rodney Hogg was the last one ??????
