Talk to few ex-umpires on the odd occasion, the money is not the issue, more so the lack of respect shown them by a minority of players which takes the enjoyment out of the job.
Get that out of the game and recruiting umpires would not be a problem.
good point.. i am one of those people that sometimes make the job hard for the umpires.. its hard because no one goes out there to make mistakes, but not knowing the rules or blatantly missing something because you are getting older are the two main problems.
Questioning the umpire isn't good at any time, we know that, but when guys are doing it week in week out then they deserve to be told that they are getting it wrong.
Umps do make mistakes. have u eva been daydreaming at square leg, missing a run out only to look up n see the batsman standing in his crease after a very quick piece of work by the keeper after a leg side wide. I HAVE. sorry bout that 1 okc.... i have a self imposed square leg ump ban now, wont happen again

merlin on the other hand is a paid umpire with loads of experience and his performance against PG was the worst i have eva seen, still furious bout that 1 and from wot i have read here this is the norm for him... this should be addressed by PDCA and not brushed over
