No you can't carey, not on a community football board contract and any other contract would not be binding in any way. I don't think any player worth his salt would sign a 4 year contract of any kind at grassroots level.

ATS, why can't you sign a player for multiple seasons? I woulld've thought the writing on the contract "season/s" would mean that you CAN sign a player for more than one season.

So Carey, you can sign for 4 years and good luck to Blackwood that did it.

Best of luck to Blackwood for taking such a move and hopefully it works out for them, but I'd hazard a reasonable guess that many such contracts wouldn't hold up in a legal sense if challenged down the track.

Best of luck? Good luck to Blackwood? They've signed someone not flown a man to the moon.
They'd have to be top 4 but the $ they've spent this year is just another pile of cash to be shovelled on the previous years' pile, still with no premierships of late.
Thomas was good at uris, but having not seen him since then will reserve judgement on that. Anyone seen him at South Clare?

Agree with skyhigh would have got a better and younger player for same coin. How old is he? He may be able to use up his last couple of years of the contract for Blackwood superules.

Well last time I checked GIMP the rules and regs stated only yearly contracts would be legally binding and honoured. A club can sign a player for multiple seasons but the contract would need to be renewed on a yearly basis. So why would you bother signing for multiple seasons. Not smart by club or player considering many things can change over a 4 year period. However after speaking to a few people from Blackwood I'm led to believe Newsbreakers information is slightly incorrect. They have not got a signature for 4 years rather the players word he will finish his career at Blackwood.

ok but i'll put my question this way- with him signing for 4 years is that a legal binding contract?

for example should after season 2011 the player wanted to leave could they hold him? i would've thought they could'nt he may have to pay his fees for that year......

PLEASE NOTE i'm asking the question that was'nt a statment.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Bowen & Wark won't be playing at Blackwood, they've both signed at Tailem Bend.

Is that Jake Bowen (ex Sturt) - I'd heard he had signed with Barmera in The Riverland.

Nope, definately signed at Tailem and I'm willing to place a heavy wager on it if you like. Same with Wark.

As a supporter of a rival Riverland Club I'm happy to hear he has signed elsewhere. Cheers ATS.
