stole my thunder BFG. Old Iggies lead by Sam "chewbacca" Janetski will be very strong. Many of the Onka's boys like 'Mini Moose' Stvenson, Joe Pedlar & possibly even Josh Willoughby (not confirmed) will be playing for the Old Iggies boys.
In group B, I wouldn't write off the Angry's FON, they will have a large Mitcham contingent featuring 'the peoples champ' Tom Greenshields, Chris Carey, Soxy & Mase.
Although you'd still expect the team lead by the man who was formerly SA gaelic footballs most eligable bachelor to take the choclates in this group!

7,s Results for Round 3 - 8/12/10

Onkas were far too strong for the Angry Leprechauns by about 27 points.
St.Brendans snuck over the line against Rosewater by 36 points.
Steve Irwins upset Flinders in a thriller by 5 points.

The interchanging of players amongst teams during the minor round seemed to work well last night and ensured the late game had the full quota of players. Well done to John Peg and Keelan for playing 2 games. The 7,s comp is going to run all the way through to Dec 22nd before taking a break so anyone looking for a kick or a catch should come down and give it a try. Numbers and personell seem to be fluctuating greatly for each team but its good to see 3 solid games of Gaelic Football being played each week. This will only help the standard and development of our game.

Sad to see the St Marys weather Gods are gonna provide another typically shite day for the occasion tomorrow. None the less i hope the day is a huge success and wets the appetites for some clubs to use the 7,s format as an effective training tool on a Wednesday night in the coming years. Most importantly i hope the association has a financially sucessful day as im of the understanding that money raised will be going to the family of the late Norm Murphy. Well done to the organisers and all the volunteers. My apologies for being unable to attend. Best of luck to all teams on the day.

Top weather conditions and a top day all round down at St Marys Park for the Gaelic7s carnival yesterday! Having the minors teams playing helped make the occasion as it boosted the attendance by 100%, St Marys Park was alive with Gaelic footy action! Western Ireland ended their recent trophy drought by deservedly taking out the mens final, and I believe Irish Australians won the womens.

Highlights:

Western Ireland bringing their coaches board to the day, giving every other team the impression we were in for a rough day!

Milko Bryant playing goals for Na Fianna with a dodgey hamstring and ducking for cover as Old Iggies Wade Saunders smashed 5+ goals past him, and Milko sun burnt by the end of the 10.25am match.

Former Crow Kenny McGregor bobbing up for Flinders Oneills and looking very handy! However if given the choice I'd probably pick Matt Pavlich ahead of him

Top work from Bricky and Lauren in organizing the day, and big ups to all who helped make the day happen! Should certainly remain an annual fixture IMHO.

Im told Mika “best Polish shot-stopper since Jerzy Dudek” Zaluski will post the 2011 Gaelic7s schedule shortly, and also the 2011 State League schedule as well.

On the Gaelic7s thus far, good work from umpire strikes back Tyrone Javor and groundsmen Steve “The Riddler” Ridley in doing the lionshare of the umpiring and ground setup respectively. And good work from the proprietors of the Steve Irwin Allstars sporting franchise who are slowly but surely working their way thru the Guinness cans in the St Marys fridge!

Wristy in regards to Onkas Irish import Danny O, I would go one step further and say he is the best player in the comp! He’s not just good cause he’s Irish, he would still be a gun player amongst/against the Irish IMHO. Was a last minute pullout for the SA men’s state team to NZ, and he would have made us a 100% better team! He would’ve looked good in a St Brendans guensey thats4sure – tho not as good as Matt Doecke did last night!

Found out Dannys only 23 last night as well. The one ingredient the SA 3X in a row Australasian Minor Championship Teams had that made them near impossible to beat was the best free kick taker in Minor Football in Cairan O Hagan. Kicked at around 90% accuracy in his 3 years of Minors. Young Danny boy is one of the crucial ingredients the SA Seniors must have if it is to break its 27 year drought. He seems to have a similar ability and understanding of what he can and cant do with the ball in his hands. Great player to watch play and hard at winning the contested ball also.
From what i have seen so far in all leagues and games and i have seen most mens games in all codes, the Senior team would become a genuine Australasian Championship contender with the following additions who have not yet represented SA in Senior Football.
Danny O Grady (Onkas) - As mentioned above.
Joe Peddler (Onkas) - Would control the air and has an awesome aerobic capacity for a big man.
Decklan (Flinders) - Hard at it angry little Irishman with all the skills.
Josh Willoughoby (W.I) - Was the form player of the comp in State League early on and his pedigree speaks for itself.
Nick Read (NaFianna) - A gamebreaker off of the half back flank who plays within his capabilities but has electric speed and can turn on a thrupany bit. His commitments at the Redlegs may prevent him from playing.
Steven Clay (Port) - Has to do too much for Port but in a State team he would be a real asset.
Todd McSorely (Flinders) - You Gotta love the skills of "The LoveChild".
Trent Hancock (W.I) - "Everyone needs a bosom for a pillow"

Cant argue with the above mentioned names! In my mere 2 years of association with the State team we’ve had a pretty miserly defense but its been SA’s ability to kick points from open play under pressure that has killed us. The addition of Irish Danny, definitely Lovechild McSorely, and id include Onkas Adrian Maccolino as well as genuine class point kickers from distance would certainly make SA dangerous up forward, especially when working with Western’s James Gallagher, and having Taints Andy Bachmann running round scaring the $hit out of defenders by running at 100+ miles an hour, and Na Fianna’s St Nick Jolly at full forward as a target! And lets not forget Matt “Chazz Brownlow” Whitford at centre half forward…

Getting as many ex/current SANFL affiliated players (eg Pedler and Read) to get the balls in the hands of the above mentioned forwards is always helpful too! The Taints have wheeled out Port Maggies onballer Casey Carr for a few games this year and he has been electric, if he can commit in 2011 then he will improve out of sight.

I agree CT, keep the defence the same
I have heard alot to the guys who couldn't commit this year are keen for next. Including Ready, who was interested unless the legs made it deep into the finals.
