I think I'm a reasonable judge of cricketing talent. :? And apart from Ricky Ponting 20yrs ago, I don't know of too many 16yo's who didn't need improvement in the mental application of the game.. ;)

I like it, i think its pretty accurate to the side i guessed except obviously no Smasha :( Batting looks strong and the younger side hopefully should equate to greater enthusiasm in the field. Will be interesting to see how the side gels together considering their are some really young guys, some really old guys (cuz, holland ) and some really egotistical guys.

Im backing this side in to be more successfull than last carnival..

I'm looking forward to seeing Hoddo and Wrighty stationed at cover & mid wicket. A couple of panthers with great arms, and Harry & Tarcs fairly handy in the field too, just quietly. ;) Batting is strong indeed. Bowling will need to be disciplined and catches taken when they come. My big tip for the Carnival - Pidge to come back a REAL MAN - on and off the field.. ;)

50 over matches, yes i thought the bowling looked bit light on but plenty of part timers, if Balding was to go would have to manage him well, let him bowl his few overs and rest him up.

Also its unlimited overs for the bowlers. The side would have plenty of part timers.

Balding
Gully
Spry
Holland
Roling / Stanford

Would obviously wear a bulk of the load.

I was looking back at some scorecards from previous carnivals and saw bowlers bowling 10, 12, 14 overs, which was strange. Would have thought that there would be a limit on overs (i.e. 10 in a 50 over match).

Congrats to all for gaining selection (and putting up their hand) especially the players selected for the first time. Will be great for your cricket, after last carnival the PV players that returned all had great post Christmas form (as long as the young Fitzroy lads learn more on the field than off 8) ).
Hoddo for All Aust cap on field, Holland and as a dark horse Tarca for best performed of field. To the 5 Goatherders selected enjoy the trip- to four of you just make sure the 5 survives NYE.

9 of safooty’s own making the trip might be more. No excuses not to keep us informed the happenings on and off the field lads......

Could be wrong, but i believe it was so bowlers could be given more of an opportunity to show their ability and push for aussie selection. Sometimes 8 or 10 overs a game just isnt enough.

Also i think its because they used to play 2 innings.
