Pretty good team but i think Ferg needs to be in the side just not sure if it should be at Ponting or Clarkes expense Doherty should have his nose just infront of O'Keefe also.

1st side you have two opening bowlers in Harris and Bollinger, with two spinning options in Smith and Doherty and Christian and Watson as the other quick bowlers. Bit short on the bowling front, but a long batting order with an explosive finish in Smith and Christian.

2nd side addresses the bowling issues with McKay added, however looks a long tail with King Pair Harris at number 8.

The side i think they will pick though will be:

12th: McKay.

They want Johnson in the side IMO. Haddin prefers not to open, and they love Shaun Marsh so he will get a gig.

What's everyone's opinion on Brad Haddin batting at three, and Ricky Ponting sitting in the Fox Sports commentary box?

Can either play Paine/Wade down the order and have BH as a specialist bat, or it allows you another allrounder (could be Christian's realistic chance), and lets Shaun Marsh/Dave Warner in the side...

Surely you'd take Punters 40 average @ 90%. I would never play Haddin without him keeping, he's not that special with the bat and neither is Paine or Wade for that matter, they are all handy keeper/ batsmen but there's really no need to play two of them in the one side.

I like this team, Christian just needs to make the step up from domestic cricket, I think he was a bit too nervous last time round. Then again, he wasn't in this stellar form either.

Because he's probably been the most consistent batsman in the ODI's over the past year.

If we can have a stayer that goes at over 85 then the rest can play cameo's around him. Yes, I agree that he can be a bit Bevanish at times but we need to mould our innings' around him.

i know this is probably very premature but after waching mitchell stark bowl about 3 times i have been very impressed with what i have seen, would he be close to being a perminent fixture in the 1 day side?

I only saw him once earlier this season and he looked quite sharp.
I'd be happy to see him given a go.

This is the avenue that we need to be taking. Although it's impracticle, ideally we need 3 or 4 older heads (32 to 36) 6 or 7 middle aged semi-established players (24-32) and 3 or 4 younger up and coming players. If we can find the right mix and rotate these players we'll be in good steed for the future, we really need to develop some sort of system where we don't have mass exodus's and we keep blooding youth.

straight swap with Khawaja imo let him open the innings like he did against SA and build around him! if he plays anymore games like the one the other day they would be stupid to leave him out. so they probably will.

also hodge?? think we are going to need to make ALOT of runs in the world cup because i cant see us bowling anyone out!

So you PICK THE BEST AVAILABLE PLAYERS AT THE TIME

There4 I would seriously consider picking
Danny Christian becoz he is prob the best domestic hitter
Chris Lynn if he continues this seasons good form
braG Hodge if he is gagged
Shaun Tait if fit
Travis Birt, destroys domestic attacks

All of those guys have something in common

Had Christian in my original eleven. Just not sure if his bowling will stand up. It is going to be played on batsman friendly wickets that will take spin. Do we bat Christian at 7 and try and get 5 or 6 overs out of him or a batsman who can bowl a few spinners such as D.Hussey or A.Voges.
