Seeing a few sob stories about people in last years div III missing out on the premiership or promotion :-({|= ;)

Anyway, the Marion ManBearPigs (2010 Hogg Div III premiers) will be back in 2011 to take on div II. Look forward to it!

Fair comment CoverKing, but being ousted by people who haven't played Hogg or even Supercoach before doesn't sit well with me. I'd prefer all newcomers to take their place behind existing coaches and work their way up the leagues like the rest of us.

Gidday Fish. You have to qualify for Divvy III to avoid this sort of thing and here's why.

1. The first objective of the divisional system is to pit coaches of equal ability against each other. That means it doesn't matter if you are in Division IV or the Bunny Bowl all of those divisions are fighting, by ranking points to qualify for the minimum of two spots available in Division III for the next season. In other words, if you are good enough, you'll get out of the pool. If not, it doesn't matter what divvy you are in.

2. The second objective of the divisional system is to improve the quality of the higher divisions. If we force SuperCoaches who have outranked previous Hogg coaches to wait in a queue we simply will not be able to attract any decent coaches. As it is an above average SuperCoach faces a tough task to get into even Division I let alone Premier. Woody for example is good enough on ranking points to be in Hogg Premier but has fallen at the final hurdle two years running.

3. At this stage the leagues are only provisional. Several of last year's coaches may in fact pull out and when they do that means teams in order of ranking points get promoted up through the ranks. Back on Woody again, this is why he got into Division I even though he fluffed it in the 2009 Division II finals series.

Remember Fishy that getting out of the pool is the key. Qualify for the top four divvies and you are sweet.

But how will I ever get into Div IV (to give myself a chance at promotion into Div III) if I keep getting bumped into Div V or lower by new coaches? I have gone down about six places in two days with the arrival of newbies.

I reckon the current system doesn't show any "loyalty" to existing coaches.

Score enough points Fishy and you'll be promoted...

According to this, if you scored 46609 last year, you would be the next one promoted if any of the teams from last year decided not be involved again...

Once you get past Div III, it's the highest scorers that will be promoted the next year...

You don't have to be in Division IV in order to be promoted to Division III. That's why it's called 'the pool'. There is a minimum of two spots available as losers of the Division III relegation finals go into the pool. If you are the first or second ranked coach then you are in Division III, even if you are a Division V coach. What you need to do is score more points (i.e be higher in the rankings) than the other pool coaches in order to go up. That's why I said it doesn't matter what division you are in if you are a pool coach because you could still get promoted to Division III next year.
