If this is true, it's a shame. :(
O'B, Auto and Goat Herder have put in a great amount of effort in organising U/21s this year and i thank them for that. They have done really well in trying to get a team together, but we've come up short this time.
I don't know how we can get this message across to ALL clubs and then have it passed on to the players to try and get people involved??
I know i was pretty keen to play on the weekend, as were all of the other guys out at the trainings.
We had a core group of 5 or 6, with a couple of others that came out once or twice. Therefore we lacked the numbers to put a team out on the park.

Hopefully we can get the word across and get a team together for the final two games.

Thats disappointing and im sorry to hear mate :( feel free to join bogan hill Sunday ;)

Hey BB, hope centrelink is looking after ya.

In regards to your proposals, number 4 long term strategic plan is a given. Without it we can all pack up and go fishing. The problem as i see it, the exec run the competition on a yearly basis, without too much effort to plan strategically for the long term. We need a new committee/group of people with the skills and drive to push through a new 10 year plan. Leave the exec to run the comp, sub-committee to drive a strategic/business plan.

Not so sure about an office/hub for the comp. Appart from Vi$ta, im pretty sure the comp couldnt afford it. The only way i could see it working is if Ace hired a booth at subway for the comp, or the comp hired out an office at Fitzies or somewhere for a nominal fee.

Juniors is an absolute MUST. If not we're just delaying the inevitable. Im not sure "sister" schools/clubs would work either but it may to some degree in some instances.

And by the sounds of it, you should be putting your hand up to help drive some of those ideas. I know your "busy" but scientist dont do too much work do they???

Fund-raising & sponsorship has been happening and has been for a number of years now. A committee of a few dedicated souls, driven by Raf, Cuz & Tige have been working their rear ends off to obtain sponsorship funds to fund the cost of the National Championships without using member funds (affiliation fees etc) and the committee has managed to raise more than what is required for the upcoming Carnival.. This is an ongoing plan to boost Association coffers. Where these funds will now be re-directed is up for discussion for those with the passion & spare time I guess.

Trying to get cash sponsorship is a very difficult gig these days, with most businesses willing to donate product but not cash. So the efforts & achievements of the fund-raising committee are amplified ten-fold in that sort of corporate climate. And we're not talking about 2 or 3 grand. It's in excess of $10K. The Association has locked in several recurring sponsors, one of which will increase it's cash sponsorship DIRECTLY to the Association incrementally over a number of years - who are a competitior to this site's sponsor - but the deal is a LOT better as far as both parties are concerned, and is also in the best interests of ALL member Clubs.. ;)

So some of what BB mentioned is already happening, but for all of these changes & plans to take place it'll require support & commitment from dedicated souls. Finding those very persons IS the hard part.. :?

PS; Reverse the order ya reckon bored..?? ;)

lads,

where i play footy if you get selected for ass. footy and dont make your self available you are therfore suspended for the next 2 games is there some way we could modify this to work for our ass. cricket side?

ok yes i understand you probably could'nt use it for championships as a one off game on a sunday is a hell of a lot easier to do than a week away in another state, but i believe we really need to do something!

I also thought with the powers that be changing this years format from 3 round robin games to a last man standing type set up also may of genrated more interest but it likes like blokes just dont give a sh!t.

I for one am very frustrated with blokes attitudes and just cant believe it that blokes dont wont to play

Can only speak on behalf of the Rose Park lads, and can tell ya most of them have young families and their wives that aren't that fond of cricket.

Only last game we had a player sit out the match against the bottom team to accrue enough leave points to play out the rest of the season.

And I know the club's arguably best player in Brenton Reidy would love to tour with the association side, but his wife has other ideas. If he had no family he would be playing.

yeah i go through the same thing couger my mrs hates cricket but i same how pull it off although at times it gets heated!

mate i hope you get yourself available for the championships as its a great level of cricket to play and its a great experience to play with blokes that you'd never normally get a chance to play with and meet some great blokes. you'll end up with alot of mates/friends out of it as opposed to just being opponents on game day i know i did playing in the championships.........

easy solution Carey, have the fixtures sorted so all teams have a bye weekend for the association game to be played, then play the game on a Saturday as a normal club game would be played, if players werent available then inforce a one or two game suspension.

I like it. :D The problem we would have is other Associations agreeing to the format, as not only is there a big push to fit the inter-Assoc T20 comp into each Assoc's program, I can't see the SAMCA member Associations agreeing to factor in Saturdays off to play these matches.

But I do like it mate and it'd get my vote.. 8)

I understand you pushing your boys BB, but at the end of the day I'll stick to my selection philosophies & principles and pick the strongest side from the pool of players available. At the same time, I'm not going to chase blokes either and I'll be rewarding those who have the right attitude, show enthusiasm and put the time & effort in. Both of your boys fit that bill and I've got a lot of time for them both. Whether they are in the best available 12 (SAMCA) or 13 (Carnival), you'll just have to wait and see.. ;)

And while we're throwing recommendations around.. M.Sanford = natural opener, get him up there.. ;)

Thanks to Auto and The one who does it with goats for their efforts in trying to field u21s sad to say lack of intrest prevented it from happening. It would seem things have changed a lot 95% of todays youth would rather go out all night and get wasted and or sit in front of a screen playing games or talking crap online.I find this in my own work each day they dont want to work or play sport just cruise on through life and acheive nothing . The other 5% are the lads who made every effort to form a side they wanted to play WHAT A FANTASTIC BUNCH OF YOUNG MEN sorry we let you down hope to see you in the senior side with a bit of luck.
