Be a big test for Norwood given the turnover in personnel.

That's hardly going to hurt them - how many Crows or Port draftees are actually walk up SANFL League players in the early part of the season?

Phillips (Power via Gold Coast)
Gorringe (GC)
Puopolo (Hawks)
Duigan (Carlton)

Plus Lower, Savage, Jonas and Roberts today.

Only 2 remain in SA - the other 6 have gone interstate.

FFS.

all but savage are big losses BUT imo all deserve a crack although gav was lucky imo. savage is $$$ to norwood for an untried kid

Haven't we still got some crappy new March draft to come?

It still adds to depth and a "free" player on the list.
As an example Jack Gunston was okay for Central in the finals.

On a side note to the SANFL draftees, Ed Curnow was rookie listed to the blues (the ex listed crow and ex glenelg player IIRC)

Yeah, great to see Ed listed after breaking his leg quite badly playing VFL for Box Hill Hawks half way through this year. I think he came 2nd or 3rd in the JJ Liston (VFL's Magarey Medal) despite missing all that footy.

Also, well done to all SANFL based players listed above who were drafted, congratulations...

Good to see Port and Crows, pick mostly South Australians (all but one each).

Norwood might be waiting a long time to get a pick in the internal draft as only seven interstate players have been selected by being drafted from the national draft, rookie draft or by trading!!!!!!!

Richard Tambling
Ben Jacobs
Ben Newton
Aaron Young
Cam O'Shea
Jarryd Lyons
Jarrad Irons

So the Mini-Draft Order will be as follows:

1. South
2. Port
3. North
4. West
5. Sturt
6. Glenelg
7. Eagles

(Norwood and Central do not get a pick)

Does anyone know when the SANFL holds the mini draft?

I agree .. One of the strengths we had this year was minimal interference toward the playing group at our disposal.

No MD pick isn't an issue IMHO.

Not sure what this means, maybe someone in here will know, on the AFL draft site they went through the rounds of the draft, then they had a "Training Squad Draft" for which two SANFL players named are mentioned in about 8 players - Nathan Ahmat - West Adelaide and Liam Corrie - South Adelaide. What happens there?

Could this be related to the new March draft, that SANFL clubs have talked about as further inhibiting their teamlist planning?

I disagree.
Whilst its harsh on the current team im glad these guys get a crack at the big time. I wish all of them the best.
I think it proves that as a club we are headong in the right direction and other clubs are taking notice of us.
We now have to breed the next crop and recruit a couple of mature age players. All is not lost

Big Phil I think you meant Eagles for Jake Von B. local club not North.

I think 2007 and 2001 were the last times, 2006 they lost one.

We still had two players taken, IIRC, in the draft a few weeks back so we still lost a few but none added to the list today.

Nathan Ahmat-watkins is a pretty handy kid!

And that train on squad, would that be related to GWS and their participation in the NAB cup this season coming?

So all the 'experts' opinions on Jon Giles suggesting he would be taken early in the draft weren't very close, were they?

Ends up going in the rookie draft to GWS a year before they begin and the Gold Coast weren't even interested.
