Fantastic session with the meet the new Echunga coach tonight. :D
Once again a big turn out by the club! (I hope the Achilles heals quickly Joey)
The new season will start next year, but with a maximum attendance, so looking good! (Same as previous years, something to be said about Training synergy)

You confuse me Shortman...

How is it confusing ?? I merely said that its possible we could be the 2nd highest spending club in the Div but as mentioned in the next post 40K is just wrong.

My first post here been browsing for awhile. Had to jump on to reply to Shortman. Sorry but you are wrong 40K is conservative and will increase next season. To try to defend your club you should first get involved so you know what is happening. Take the blinkers off, the club has gone the same way as TV, that it has bagged for so long now. Local players are getting pushed out for payed players ! Yes more wins are on the board but is that what country football is about ?

And while I'm at it Barron how did Torrens Valley fund their player payments from similar canteen, bar and gate takings as Gumeracha which you say could not do it !!!

So why does Gumeracha's player payments have to be tied to revenue ?

Sounds like the same bloke, apparently he is a tall guy, what was he like as a player, and a team mate? would be interesting to have a bit of insight to his playing days[/quote]
He's a good bloke that also coached Lofty B's. Good family man to have at your club for sure. In Lofty's 4 B grade flags he's kicked quite a few goals. Well past his A grade days but had a successful time in B's.
He'll be missed at Lofty.

40k was a figure bandied about at the beginning of last season and was agreed that it was too much money for a club like us to be paying and thats coming from deep inside the club. This year things are much the same. We are able to pay more than most ill agree due to the fact we have some very loyal people around the club whove stuck through the bad times and now are seeing gate receipts, bar and canteen takings at much higher levels than previous, which all helps.

As for local players being pushed out this is not the case. Towards the end of last season it was the imports who were being left out of the A grade for local players. However what I will say is that our import to local ratio was pretty good when compared with the rest of this years finals sides. You do what you have to compete and thats how country footy is for the most part whether we like it or not.

Well said shortman and to be fair Gumeracha needed to spend some money on players (presuming it is sustainable) as they were simply not competitive a few years ago. I would presume that is a similar situation to Birdwood in that they were not really competitive the first couple of years in Div 1 and thus had to get players in ie Krieg, Magoo etc.

And that worked out well getting in those players for Birdwood. Straight back to Country Div!

Would have been a lot worse had they not been there Footy Warrior. The first year they were there Birdwood had a genuine opportunity to make finals but unfortunately injuries played their part and it wasn't to be.

Birdwood always injuries played their part but dont all clubs get injuries so i just say the injuries excuse is just that an excuse and you were just not good enough.

Well quite often with half an A Grade team out injured you are not good enough - which largely comes down to depth. Teams with good depth can cover injuries, teams without good depth can't and therefore are not good enough. That's the way I see it.
