Well said BB . Hopefully wont happen again now we are allowing players to interchange teams in the minor round. A lot of blokes would also be keen for more than one game in Jan no doubt when pre-season fitness starts to take shape. Your wisdom is reflected in you leading all other Gaelic tippers .
As for coach of the year there are 2/3 standouts for me at this stage. Onkas at 6 and zip being ably led by Gave Phillips and Mike Whitman look a big chance to take the chocolates this year. The other nominee without attempting any Matt Doecke humour would be the IA coach as the perrenial under achievers sit 3 and 4 and within striking distance of their first finals birth in years. Probably have Daics in front by a whisker as Onkas have a talent pool the envy of the comp.
As for the umpiring, thats not for me too decide. Many different opinions on this one. Personally i enjoy Zueses play on,play on, play on style. I thought Chewbacca Janetskis first up game was solid and i believe Tommy G always calls it right down the middle. Antos always good but i havent seen him ref yet although i know he did do possibly his first game on the weekend. Overall i think the standard has lifted and i have only seen one game poorly officiated this year but the ref admitted he had a stinker so tuff titty said the kitty. Refs have bad days too. My opinion is probably Tommy G is my fav ref as he is fair,clear and consistent. Perhaps im biased because of our friendship but either way surely he couldnt be ref of the year if hes corner back Mick Emmet did say to me that the best ref he has seen this year was Kenny Fay and hes a good judge however i have heard this statement directly contradicted depending on the point of view. In summary. I dont know re the refs and there is no ref of the year award anyway so that was a solid waste of 10 minutes. [/quote]

It certianly doesnt hurt for the state league teams to stay somewhat involved in the 7 a side as there are some very handy players that could certainly do a job in the more demanding 15 a side.

For St brendans we were lucky enough to grab Bevo and Baccy from their 7 a side team last year (RIP Surps GFC) and they played an integral part in our Hannigan cup win.

Last night there was a lad for the opposition who looked pretty handy and i reckon could walk into the starting 15 of any eam in the state league.

Lucky the Surps have merged with St Brendans to form the Surp Brendans. I see they would now clash with the new team in ORANGE! Who would have thought!

No-one ever said Gaelic Football SA was not full of colour...We have got Bright Orange Dingos and a Purple and Green Lovin Machine Funny to think both Port and Mitcham had troubles getting a black and gold and blue and gold guernsey approved.

A pretty poor effort by Flinders last night to not even be able to get 7 blokes together and have to forfeit. Very disappointing especially for all the time and effort that has gone into getting this years 7 a side comp up and going. Very disappointing - This is the first time i have used a 'smilie', that's how disappointing it is. Could i use the word disappointing any more?

Continue the flinders bashing thats ok, we are used to it on every level. The fact that in the past 3 years we have gone from a club struggling to field one side to a club that I believe is capable winning the mens comp, having a well organised womens team and now a sevens side is a pretty good achievment given the large financial outlay and time involved. At least we have entered a sevens side, which is more than I can say for the 5 other mens teams who havent.....

Probably not the time to praise yourself now Nev... Yes the transformation of FON has been notable, but to forfeit in 7 a side is still not great, still with the controversy of the reschedule. I know a few times we've been close to forfeit, but have got a few ring ins. Sure we weren't 'competitive' but we still fielded a team. That's nothing to what Matt Doecke has done over the years at IA, the number of times that he has pulled friends, mates of mates, random onlookers in to get a side on the park is something that must be applauded. This has been to the benefit of the comp, but many times this has been the to the detroment of his own club. Hats off to him.
As for my side not participating in 7 a side, I asked people from my club yet couldn't get enough of a commitment from people to play week in week out & I'm not going to commit to something that isn't faesable.

For someone (kenny) who is quite outspoken about refs on the field, I believe it's very good for him to contribute to the game in this manner. Especially for someone with such a good understanding of the game
No excuse for his behavior towards refs at stages, something we are working on (pretty hard habit to break, maybe it's genetic?). But, there are many other players out there in the league with there fair share to say about refs, but I strongly doubt any of them would actually ref, like Kenny

Im not praising myself, just sick of cheap digs from people who have no idea what they are talking about. When starting up a new team in anything there are going to be hiccups, this will be a once off and we will come back stronger than ever like we always do and make those doubters eat their words. As for the "controversy of the reschedule" you have got to be kidding, get over yourself, you have no idea what went on behind the scenes for this, and to be honest it is none of your business. na i love him as the ref, just stating that he is very vocal while the ref shirt is not on. just ask the wristy. best ref prior to the titians was Gav and matty hill. both fantastic refs and was kenny back then. its great he is back helping out. wish matty and gav would as well

Im really keen in getting back into some sport but cant be to physical as i work six days a week and cant have any time off, especially due to injury.

When is the Gaelic Football played, where at, what time and day and what fitness/skill level does one have to be at to play. Also cost.

i'll play gaelic ambassador this time, gaelic (aka the game they play in heaven) is split into two competitions. State League & 7 a side.
7 a side is played on wednesday night & state league is played on either friday night or on sunday arvo/night.
Every team is different on how they charge for games, but usually it's about $10 per game
Games go for roughly an hour (a bit longer for state league). Game is (*usually) no where near as physical as afl as there is no tackling. Occasionaly you can get hit with a solid bump, but this isn't that common.

Western Ireland survived a late scare to knock off the previously undefeated Onkas outfit by about 6 points this arvo! Onkas were missing Irish Danny and Adrian Macolino up forward, but Western Ireland looked 100% better than the previous week against St Brendans, as they welcomed back midfielders Adam Klun and Josh Willoughby and perhaps their best on ground today, the dreadlocked and headbanded Burgo in defence. The Goats were missing their first choice keeper.

The State league is gonna be very close and interesting after the Christmas break!

Huge score by the Ports & after a few weeks of tipping them, they've come good.
Interesting result in the WI v Onkas game, the gap between the top few teams is a lot closer than the previous years.
A massive result for Na Fianna to beat the boys from Flinders. The break couldn't have come at a much better time tho for us with some injuries starting to take its toll on the group,. I think the other notable mention of the game would have to be Nick "physc out" Jolly. It's not often that the boat gets on the lip

Finally if there is anyone out there on this forum who is interested in playing in this sundays gaelic 7's carnival & doesn't have a team, you're more than welcome to come & join the Na Fianna side, at least for a day!
