Tonights fixtures are:

6:45pm Onkas vs St Brendans

7:30pm Rosewater Dingoes vs Steve Irwin Allstars

8:15pm Flinders O'Neills vs Angry Leprechauns

If anyone is trawling thru these pages and would like to try Gaelic7s (7 a side Gaelic Football) with these teams please email info@gaelicfootballsa.com.au or PM me!

Heres hoping the Dingoes dont eat Steve Irwins Bindy!!! :-&
But seriously its good to see the 7,s up and about. Well done to Mark Zaluski on his work to make it happen. =D> I have been told the Angry Leppers are looking for players in the late game if anyones keen for a run, chase, kick and a catch :axe: .

6:45pm Onkas vs St Brendans - Onkas by 8 (so I was told)

7:30pm Rosewater Dingoes vs Steve Irwin Allstars - Steve Irwin allstars won easily

8:15pm Flinders O'Neills vs Angry Leprechauns - Flinders O'neills won by a couple

Might need to adjust those start times as they seem to be a little tight!

Games will now be at 6.45, 7.45 and 8.45 in the Gaelic 7,s

Results Round 1

Onkas 5.14 - 29 def St.Brendans 3.12- 21
Best Onkas ; Danny Boy, Jamie "Keithy" Conlon, Wade "Curly" Saunders and Dan "Omo" Bryant
St.B ; Matt "Polish Bear" Zaluski, Ben "10' Newberry, Craig 'Why did you call me Angel Wings" Bevan and Millsy
This was a good game that saw the Saint Surps hit the lead in the 2nd half. Onkas were able to steady with a couple of late unders and pinch a first up win for the defending champions. A very high standard for a game of 7,s i must say.

Steve Irwins 5.15 - 30 def. Rosewater Dingoes 0.2 - 2
Best Steves ; Ryan "Yes" Darling, Adam "Harry' Harris, Walter, JP and Bindy Irwin
Dingoes ; Not sure on too many names yet but the goaly was good and number 4 kicked a couple of points. Big ups to the Dingoes though for having a crack and playing with tremendous spirit. They will improve each week and learn the game and find Gaelic a lot easier as time goes by. My only criticism is to their colour blind manager who selected their team strip. I have never seen anything more orange (including a bundle of oranges) in all my life. Good luck for the rest of the year and welcome to the GFHA of SA Gaelic 7,s comp.

Flinders o Neil 5.20 - 35 def Angry Leprechauns 2.1 - 7
Best FON ; Decklan "Sh*t this guy can play" Gallan, James "heyhey" Neeson, Darren "Irish" Mcsorely
Angrys ; Soxy, Big Rig and ShaneO Quinn
Interesting stat ; 43% of the Reds squad are Irish. I dont ever remember any Gaelic team in this states rich history having a ratio like that of their players born in Ireland. For a team that hasnt held a Cup in 20ish years its fair to say the Reds looked like they will certainly threaten to get their hands on the Holy Grail of Gaelic 7,s

Well done to everyone on a good first night. We now have official start times (as listed above) and the brains trust of Mal Zaluski, TJ and the Riddler have decided to play all games on the one pitch. The plan is for all teams to play each other once and a 2 week finals series. I must compliment the experienced players from FON AND SIA in allowing a little on field learning, coaching and game facilitation to the many new players in their games. We remind you that Gaelic 7,s is a social comp and we ask that no-one belts the piss out of each other until the finals ;) See you next Wednesday

Irish 6-10 v Port
Onkas 6-10 v Na Fianna
WI 6-10 v St. Brendans
Flinders 16+ v Mitcham

Good to see all forms of the comp up and running, the irish quota up (proves Irish guys will play Gaelic whenever there's a game on Fat Controller!!!!!) and Flinders a threat, making it a very tight top 5 teams.

Keep it up boys. The eastern states need to keep watching and learning.

In the lead up to the half way point of the season it is good for all the mens teams to be playing on the same day this week. Chance for the lads on all teams to see how the other teams are travelling. Couple big games again this week with the forecast for good weather to assist some of the sides.

Onkas to continue on their merry way and get past Na Fianna. Expect the brains trust of the Lawlors and Fays and the man himself marty Bryant to try to upset the Onkas boys with some new and intriguing tactics. Na Fianna to be leading at half time before the depth and experience of the Onkas boys sees them home. onkas by 6-10 points.

Western Ireland to get over the top of the Saints boys by 5-10. Saints boys still to hit their straps this season even though their were a few attempted hits from both sides on the weekend in a hotly contested game against Flinders. The goats have been building well and now are getting their best line up on the park regularly and are getting the job done. Klunny and Gags through the midfield and upforward have been exceptional finishers and the old men in Dave and John continue to play with cool heads down back and control the game. Expect the Saints to charge out the blocks though this week.

Port and Irish clash should also be a good encounter. The Port boys will be looking to play a side they are more evenly matched and with the forecast being good expect the runners led by Simon Clay AKA Toastie and Levi to create havoc. Not too many sunday games yet for the port boys so they will be keen. Irish lads couldn't finish the job in the second half against Mitcham afetr being up by 3 or 4 points and then in the end were extremely fortunate to end up with a draw. Struggle for finishers with sergeant paully and Timmy Watson being away the last couple weeks. Should be interesting affair and expect the irish boys to just get over the line with that little bit of extra experience in Stiffy and Mick "I got my mojo back" Emmett. Irish by 1-5 points.

Final game of the week is Flinders and Mitcham. Mitcham had the full squad together for the first time this year last week after flying in young Chris Carey. The young man played a blinder together with little sachin (tommy G-the master) and almost got the boys over the Irish lads. Mitcham boys seemed to have a lot of the ball and with a little bit cleaner skills could upset plenty of teams this year. Saying that expect the Flinders boys to back up last weeks result. Slow start against the Saints but worked into the game and controlled things from half way through the first half. With their best on the park expect the Flinders boys to challenge Onkas so with a couple more handy ins this week i expect Flinders by 10-15 points

Onkas beat Na Fianna by about 12 or so points. The fins only had 12 players i believe so they would have been disappointed with that.

In a bit of a shock result the Taints had a pretty comfortable win over West Ireland. Think the goats had a few key players out and a couple of their well known players had rare off days. not sure of his name but the lad in the redlegs shorts looked pretty handy for them. Gags also put some pretty handy points over the bar. For the taints Bevo in defence was sensational, Linc Rogers turned back the clock, Younger Zaluski had his best game and in only his second game Casey Carr was probably our best.

ladder is up, will be a tight finish for teams 2nd to 5th...great for the league

disappointing for mitcham to only have 12 players, and another new goalie for 1 week!!! played well through the first half to only be down by a couple of points, all be it with the wind. flinders ran all over us in the second half. they are a very skilled team, a good mix of irish boys, soccer players and bigger bodies. #21 killed us through the middle. flinders still love to argue amongst themselves which is always amusing.

Irish 4-9 over Port 4-5 in the first Shane O'Donnell Cup Clash..an honour for the Irish boys to hold the 'Shaneo' for the first time. Named after the great man who basically founded both clubs with his wife AJ

Nick Wark best for Irish while Steven 'No Hard Feelings Toastmaster' Clay won the Steven Clay Medal for best on pitch

While Onkas basically strangled Na Fianna in the middle of the field I am really looking forward to the premiere of 'TJ's House' on c31..a show that promises to be the Gaelic version of Warnie....with the interview with Nick Jolly to be the equivalent of the one that Shane did with James Packer
