Heard last night that Portlands A grade coach payment is little more then beans on toast. Either this is not true or Ricky Pearce loves footy that much he would give up his spare time to coach a Div3 team.

a touch hard to explain,
its over the same distance as the beep test but not as continuous.
you run the 15 -20m what ever it is on the beep turn and run back to the start point, after that you get back to the start point you get a 8 second break to do it all again this is repeated till you can no longer get to the lines on the beeps but the speed increases rapidly, i found it more difficult than the beep test and so did alot of others.

i havent explained it to well but from my under standing NRL clubs have been using this over the past 2 years as a replacement for the beep test as it is more football orientated with the quick sperts we require rather than the continuous jogging for a long period of time

gives a better grip of someones ATP system rather then there cardio vascular system.
Looks to be more beneficial as Piccachu said cause it is sprinting rather then slowly building up from a very slow jog.

No idea what ricky or past coaches have been payed.
Wouldnt think it would be anywhere near as big as some other clubs pay.
Maybe ricky is coachng for other reasons??

Your right IF not everything does revolve around money. But you would think a club would have the descency to to give a top bloke like Rick what his time and effort is worth. Its a typical Portland way of operating though and has been for a long time now. Just ask a few of the previous coaches. Who knows he may not even collect his beans on toast. This has been known to happen as well.

Surely they would have spoken about money before he accepted the job, not like they made him take the job for what they were offering. Pretty sure Ricky is old enough to make his own decisions.

Fair suck of the sav inthechair, every one whinges and complains about how people are getting paid to much and its a disgrace and now your having a dip about us not paying enough, how do you win.
Either this is not true or Ricky Pearce loves footy that much he would give up his spare time to coach a Div3 team.

and from this quote, i think ricky does love footy that much that he is willing to give up his spare time to coach a div 3 side for a minimal wage.

Someone sounds like they have a chip on their shoulder, perhaps a little jelous that Portland have attracted some good quality recruits (players & coaches) for not much $$ at all, because of a good club culture perhaps? Where have all your sides players gone? And why?

Exactly right PC, money would have been spoken about and if ricky wasnt un happy with what was offered he would have said no or come to an agreement with the club.

From what I heard, ricky knocked back another job (where I dont know) that would have payed heaps, obviously he wanted to coach Portland, for what reasons you would need to ask Ricky.

From my experiences with Ricky he would :) do a great job as head coach or even as a boot cleaner. Portland are lucky to get him! :)
