Me. I am an idiot. This bloke came around from some electricity company and tried to sell me on it, said they were cheaper than AGL. He gave me a contract, which I signed because he said 'It doesn't mean you agree to the terms, it just saves me coming around again to get your signature IF you decide to go with us.' I was supposed to call them if I agreed. Well, I got a phone call from AGL today saying that this other mob have requested AGL disconnect me and transfer my meter to THEM. I told AGL to block the transfer, which they've done, BUT now I may get charged a 'reconnection' fee by AGL.

The moral of the story - never change companies. You might save $5 a year if you're lucky. Not worth the hassle

I'd say the moral is DON'T SIGN ANYTHING IF YOU'RE NOT SURE WHAT IT IS. Some bloody dodgy bastards out there!

I did some work re door knocking 'utility' companies - and surprisingly enough - door knocking is their most successful way of gaining customers.

Surprising to me because (if I even answer the door...lol) I always say "No thankyou O:) " and shut the door..lol

This thread reminds me..i just got a bill from my existing electricity provider, so i'm thinking of forwarding it to Simply Energy to ask how much they would have charged with the same amount of usage.

Anyone heard anything about Simply Energy, they're reportedly cheaper than most providers, although i have heard one or two other not so positive reports about them..

I've been with Simply Energy for 3 years now and have never had a problem. I get the RAA discount with them which is an extra incentive.

had one of these guys, and he was from AGL i reckon

they asked me to go outside with them to show them the meter box, I told them that you are just a salesman - to which he denied and then i told him politely to remove himself off my property

Overlooking then getting a reminder fee for a dog catcher fine from the council. Cost of an A4 piece of paper with the same contents on it as the original apparently is worth $30, but yet they do nothing to fix our street which is prone to flooding. Might send in the payment in 5 cent pieces

Think you'll find that your payment will not be accepted as is not legal tender

Maybe write a letter/email to your local council and ask them to look into the street flooding issue and to provide a written response - this will probably serve you better than behaving like a s a

Simply Energy! That's where the clown was from. I know relatively little about comparing utility providers but Mr McSpaz went through their literature pretty thoroughly and he said we'd be better off staying with AGL. In any case, after what's happened the only call I'll be making to Simply Energy is to tell them that I am not changing providers and that I will never sign anything they give me ever again and they can go and stuff themselves inside a haggis.

Thanks for going out of your way to look it, although I was never being serious ;) I just can't see how they justify a reminder piece of paper can cost 30 bucks.
As for the flooding, letters have been written with photo evidence. This has been an ongoing problem here for 20 years or so, I also suspect this is a factor in why my home is cracking and sinking in one corner. The council did carry out some underground work on the corner block a few months ago but whether or not this was to remedy the problem no one was informed

Child Support, a former housemate (not the horror one but nearly as close), and Telstra...

All up, I became $3200 in debt today, and I don't think I am responsible for any of it...

Good call Redden... The random addition of $1000 to my bill in the last month, however, was caused by a man hater, and not my erection.
