the FFA will be happy the GF is in Melbourne...

to get 47 ,000 ppl is great considering that there was a cricket game next door

now for some interestiing facts

The REAL GAME AND THE REAL RECORDS

1. the biggest crowd at the MCG in 2006 was the Aus v Greece game
2. the biggest crowd at TD was MVFC v Sydney (bigger than Adelaide in AFL)
3. Football (Soccer's) participation is 250% higher than AFL, as confirmed again in 2006
4. A League TV ratings are up 44% per Foxtel
6. An annual Asian/Pacific Super Cup is being planned for Melbourne (biggest football event ever in Melbourne, with a TV Audience that makes an AFL Grand Final TV Audience look like peanuts)
and
7.Biggest sponsorship in 2006 - Nike $50M over 9 years to the FFA

ang costanzo man of the finals series so far. saved uniteds arse on numerous occasions last nite as well as the first leg. is always in the right spot at the right times. shud be captain next yr.
alagich and kemp need huge improvement b4 prelim- these two possibly worst two passers ive seen, they both struggle under pressure.
greg owens MUST start the game against newcastle. this guy can play and he knows how to score- must be given full 90 minutes.
veart shud play futher up the park- possibly central midfield role. fernando playing the "viduka" type position with burnsy running off him. they also must give burns more of the ball- when he does get the ball he makes things happen and can break thru defenses.

kossie needs to stop slouching in his chair all game sipping his cappucino and pull his bloody head in. if we don't make the final he shud be the first out the door- with the players he has got at his disposal we shud dominate a-league.

Despite his propensity for laziness at times, as soon as we lost Chewy this year I remarked to a mate, there goes any chance we had ... We don't seem to have that continual threatening presence near goal or player that can produce a "wonder goal" ... Even in the first final against the Victory we didn't really look like we were going to put one in the net IMHO.

Fernando and Veart are just too slow and don't look menacing at all against the better teams, I hope they prove me wrong but I can't see these guys leading a winning attack two weeks in a row.

Angelo "George" Costanzo was yet again magnificent and agree with the call for him to skip the side next year.

They say it takes an enormous amount of heart to get back from here which I'm sure the side can muster, I just have my doubts about whether they have the pure talent to get the job done.

good atmosphere shit result.
outdid the Victory supporters for 99% of the day.
$7.80 for a scotch and coke was ridiculous.

Was good to bump into Heath Hopwood and Marco Bello at the game also. :D

Crown Casino was good fun before the match, as was the Celtic club in the city, very nice staff, and fairly cheap drinks which was good.

looking foward to going back in 2 weeks.

Best side definately won.
Victory have only ever played 2 finals for no losses, bit better than Adelaide Choknited's record!
I just hope the Jets get up next week so I don't have to barrack for the Tards again!

now let me see...you let everyone know all season how much you HATE the A-League, yet you watch it and jump up and down when the result is known??

Howdy mate, its a bit like the AFL, don't like it but still enjoy it when the Power lose finals!
As a betting man you'll be interested to know I picked the exact scorelines for both games, I think there could be a system in picking the 2nd legs of finals.
And it was last Tuesday not last night, and I did stir up a few before the game but 99% of my soccer talk is on The World Game forum which I can access from work (If you did a search of my posts you'd see there's quite a bit of jumping up and down well before the result is known), here's a link to the prediction last Tuesday but I don't think you can see it unless you register:
