i'll disagree with that opinion - having coached at c1/c2 level for last five years and watched many a c4 game before us - the standard of the top teams is much better - but the lower/mid ranked sides are reasonably similiar but rarely challenge those top teams. There are occasionally good sides in c5/c6 which can make it seem that the level is similiar.

The Princes' Premiership C grade side of 2009 would not have got close to any of the 2010 c2-c1 grand final sides.

But I guess that's the beauty of a new season - we all start out equal.

Having played C6, C4 and C1 personally I haven't found that much difference in standard in the years I played in those divs, however that's only a point of view from the position I play.

I thought you coached the C6 side a few years back Finn?

nope, i wobbled around in a forward pocket then coached the afternoon game.
probably the bottom ten players are consistently better in the higher c grades.

If you keep the same side as last year Finn these teams won't get near you blokes. Love it when all these new sides come up and think it will be a cake walk ;)

i wasnt trying to be a smart arse but our C's have won 3 in a row 2xc4 1xc3 (won the GF by 20goals). so i would expect them to give uni a fair crack. seeing as it is our 3rd side compared to unis 5th (i know from the d's down at uni guys kind of play where they want in some cases) either way all good fun.

finn do you guys still do suit day?? has to be one of the funniest things i have ever seen (photos) of the bloke who rocked up in the wet suit and scuba gear to a footy game

suit and soup day still occurs - usually a fine collection of sp bookie style suits and large amounts of homemade soup to wash the green ginger wine down.

know you weren't being an rs but i expect the competition to be much more even than just two teams.

could be interesting given the amount of crossover between the blacks and reds over the last few years...

Surely in November the make up of any clubs C grade come next April is going to be highly unpredictable??? If Wingfield come into C2 (AGAIN) they could truly finish anywhere between Top and Tenth depending on several things. Not to mention Nth Pines and Ovies. They were in C2 in 2008 (5th and Premiers respectively) and who knows where they will be next year??? No doubt if PAC have won 3 flags in a row they will be in the mix but its certainly anyones for the taking next year.

My main hope for C2 IN 2011 is that we have a 10 team comp unlike that farcical piece of crap we had in C1 last year. Its very difficult to run a C Grade when you have 1 game in June. In my perfect world the 10 Div 2 teams would have all their C grades in C2 and if they had a D grade that could be perhaps a D1 for all the D grades.

and? that will just add to Clark, Darrington, Plummer and anyone else I've missed

Only Chris would have hit 40 (if he's still alive) Kym and Wayne would still be of some respectable playing age.

Clarks gone to Darwin and only kicked 3 goals for the year last year (i enjoyed writing that) :D . Scotty is retired. Which only leaves the eppervescent Robert Craig who despite breaking a collar bone at 40 came back  and is playing serviceably still. Ando is the other veteran nearing the big 40 but alas he was our B+F last year besting 68 other players who played C grade for Pnu last year. I have heard rumblings that he is bringing a few boys back. Could we see the Mustang apply for his 14th transfer ;)

They play Jnr games there and we did have the upgrade pre 2009 season but im not certain they meet the light measurements required to host senior footy there at night.

that's a pity - would have been good to sound out an evening game for the c grade for a triple header v the blacks

I heard KK was heading back to Flinders Park (for the lure of another premiership perhaps) but cannot confirm this for sure. He did play at North Pines last year at least for the first half of the year. Their club would have his number. If he is at Ovies then id suggest messaging Nuggetty Goodness as he could tell you for sure.

As for the baseballers, i have a good mate at the baseball club and he told me of 2 guys coming out at least. From playing in C1 and C2 for the last 4 years i can confidently say that a lot of the older guys who come out wont have a massive impact as C2 is a pretty solid comp now unlike say for instance the Div 10 that existed in the late 90,s.
None the less it should be an interesting year with a lot of new faces, new old faces and some of the same old faces. It would be nice if we could keep a core group together for a lot of the year so we dont have to deal with the issues associated with using 69 different blokes throughout a season.

Im still hoping, wishing and praying for a 10 team comp.

Looking at a draft fixture you might get your wish for a 10 team comp it just might not be C2. PNU ROC Walkerville and Old Igs in C1.
