I think that everyone is unfair to simply blame the players and administration of cricket in SA!!!

It must be a bigger issue...to get it SO SO wrong there must be more people involved.

Bump.

Have we improved at all? No.

Can we see any improvement coming? No.

If PG and CF do continue the way they are, then we won't see to much of them, and that'll only hurt us...

Cullen Bailey was touted as one of the next big things as far as spinners went, and now we've been playing a guy that I rate, but who is realistically a bits-and-pieces player in O'Brien...

Klinger and Ferg aside, no-one looks like they're going to score runs, and Duval can't buy a wicket.

What can we do?

Hopefully once saca get all this money from the new adelaide oval deal we can buy some players. Throw the cheque book. Nsw and vic have got enough to form 2 sides so im sure guys would be looking to play 1st team cricket. We should target 4 or 5 gun cricketers and splash the cash.

That's the thinking !

Ignore the fundamental problem and that is grade cricket. Develop that better and the cricketers will come through.

Hasnt worked so far. We recruit mostly mediocre intetstate players when we could have spent a bit more and got quality intetstate players. We do have to develop district better but that could take years so in the mean time we need to stop being the jokes of australia.

When I searched the "most runs for the season" and realized how high Blizzard was on that list, I hoped no-one would bring that up...

But Jim, our "mediocre" recruits, kicking off with Michael Klinger, haven't been too shabby... Not all superstars, but how often can you entice a genuine superstar away from another state?

The issue is management for mine. Cossie can make runs, and we got rid of him because he was too heavy...

I don't give a flying rats tossbag (thanks Blighty) what the SACA think, but he's a run machine, and we somehow let him go. Unacceptable.

Rhino left because we couldn't come to contract terms... Now he's played all three forms of International cricket- based originally on his SA performances, and we let him go.

I've got no problem recruiting guys like Klinger or O'Brien, because they justify their spots.

I don't care if our entire XI was made up of recycled state players.

MP you could add Blizzard to that list also. Wasn't rated at all by the Vics in First Class Cricket, SA offer him an opportunity and looks to be taking it in his stride.

The only good thing Rod Marsh did in his time at Adelaide Oval was to make a call to Dan Christian.

Blizzard is on the list now... ;)

Don't know how these other imports are going to end up (Edmonson/Cassell), but if they can improve themselves a touch, then perhaps we were too quick before the start of the season to crucify the 'Backs...

Pretty sure we (safooty.net cricket posters) threw in the towel when Dave Warner re-signed with the NSW boys... And look at his FC record... :D

I really dont think that much of Warner. As for Edmonson, i think he is going to be very handy for SA.

What i think is sad though, is you get your Klingers, Blizzard, Edmonson, O'Brien, Christian umm chuck in Elliott few years back and these blokes are coming from interstate to make a name for themselves and fill our SS sides, but where is the home grown talent?

Here is a left field post for you. With the trouble in Pakistan and the likelihood that they will not play in that country until terrorist unrest is settled. Why don't we send Jamie Cox over there, get him to recruit some top Pakistani players that cannot get into their national team, pay them State contracts, which I am pretty sure will be a damn site more than what they get to play first class cricket it Pakistan, re locate them to Australia, in our fair state, we would only need one of their new chuckers and a couple of batters and we will be competitive. THOUGHTS????

7% of the population, 17% of the first class contracts... If we half fill our side locally we are either fighting above our weight or making our life difficult to compete.
