Sorry to interupt the trip down memory lane gentlemen (I assume there are no ladies in the forum however i do have my suspicions about the Milky Bar Kid)!

Onkas by 1-5 in the wet. Apparently the coach who started the year as coach has not been welcomed back after the coaching efforts of G Phillips last week.

Western Ireland by 11-15- Not even Matt Doeke will be able to stop them

St Brendans by 1-5. I've got a feeling Cheese Twisties will be back to his 2010 Hannigan Cup Final form

Flinders by 11-15- If they can get a team together!

Maybe another wet night for those that brave the friday conditions...

Onkas to comfortably get over the Mitcham boys. Mitcham little disappointing so far this year. Have some good players just not gelling at present. Onkas on the other hand toyed with the irish lads and won comfortably. Onkas 15+

WI also have been playing some decent gaelic and getting the ball in scoring position often. THE WI boys have more options now and should put up another decent score. The Irish boys numbers seem to be dropping off and we all hope this doesn't continue. WI by 10-15.

Flinders to play this week and have a comfortable win against Port. Port have been improving a playing sunday afternoon gives them a chance to highlight their run and carry. Flinders by 10-15.

The last of the week is tha Saints and the NaFianna boys. Saints starting to build and with a few of their players stringing a few games together the scoreboard has been starting to tick over. NaFianna boys bounced back and were very clinical against the Mitcham boys and had a confidence boosting win. Saints in a close on by 1-5.

I did hear the other night that the Flinders and WI game was postponed. Can someone confirm the reasons behind this. I believe one of the girls teams have had a forfeit on a friday this season so what was the basis for the so called reschedule in this instance. I would have thought that there are times that every team struggle to get numbers (like the Saints sunday after the usual saturday night) and just because 6 or so guys may be out is not reason enough. Does this open the door for more reschedules now...

Maybe this is an indication that sundays may be the preferred time and an alternate venue where two ovals side by side where double headers can be played is the way to go

FRIDAY NIGHT RESULTS

ONKAS 5.11 (26) def MITCHAM 0.5 (5)
Onk Best ; "Smokin" Joe Pedlar, Sam "Chewbacca" Janetski, WadeO, Danny Boy and Jamie
Mitcham ; TommyG, Rolfy and Mase
Having seen them first hand im happy to say that Onkas will be very very hard to stop from winning the Farnham/League Cup which will be awarded at the end of the minor round. They are undefeated, have a great percentage, tremendous depth, are well organised and play a great brand of team orientated football. They look super sharp.

WESTERN IRELAND 0.17 def IRISH AUST 0.6
WI Best ; Jon Flo, James "Shortstack" Gallagher, Shane "BlackSheep" Bahrba, Dave " I dont read this site because i get angry at all the hair jokes" Floreani, Klunny and special mention to both keepers for keeping a clean sheet.
IA Best ; Carl "Scale" Richter, Nick "Gags mate" Wark, Matthew Doecke-Norris and Stiffy was very hard at times
That is 4 consistent performances in a row showing IA are the big improvers this year and will beat any team that takes them lightly. The Goats look sharp every week i see them. They have no obvious weakness and i think their contest with Onkas on Dec 5 at 5pm will be the game of the year.

SUNDAYS RESULTS

FLINDERS 3.7 (16) def PORT 1.2 (5)....this is the score the ref told me but he wasnt 100% certain on that. Either way it doesnt effect the tip results so your score may be correct Nev
BEST FON ; Eanna Kavanagh, Teena Stirling, Rhys "Contiki" Townsend, Todd "Lovechild" McSorely + Alex "Puck" Haughey
PORT ; Levi501, Rosey and Toasty
I didnt see the game so im not really in a position to give any special comments.

NA FIANNA 1.13 (16) def ST BRENDANS 2.6 (12)
BEST NAF ; Matty "Benny" Hill, Nick "Gay Pride" Jolly, Merv Stynes, Gavdust O,Rielly, Ken "has no nickname" Fay + Dirty Dave Aston. However easily our best team performance of the year with all players making valuable contributions.
ST BRENDANS ; Jordy Peg, Jarrod "6" Pommeroy, Andy "Actually plays up fwd" Backman, GinPeg and Zues
A good hard skillfull game. 2 very late goals probably made the scoreboard a little more flattering for the Saints however it was always evident that they would come and come hard downhill with the breeze in the second half. The Saints generally save their best footy for around finals time and i think its fair to say Na Fianna played the football we have been striving towards whilst the Saints were below their best. Overall a very enjoyable contest to be a part of. This loss makes the St. Brendans v Flinders game next week all the more signifigant.

After 5 Rounds we have 3 tipsters out in front with 16.....
They are Milky Bar Skid, Breaking Balls and BFG. However Sundays triple header will be harder to pick than a broken nose.

ROUND 6

ONKAS 16+ V PORT...Top v Bottom. Probably says enough.

IRISH AUST 1-5 V MITCHAM....Real toss of the coin job. Mitcham with more individual stars but Irish have been consistent this year. This match will be close either way and i wouldnt expect a shootout.

WEST IRELAND 1-5 V NA FIANNA....Im more than happy to be proven wrong as i was today when i tipped the reigning Champs against us. The key match up will be Mark "Glove" O,Driscoll v Josh "Willow" Wolloughby. Having seen all of the Goats games in the last month im willing to admit that it would take our best effort to get the chocolates over the well oiled lovin machine.

GAME OF THE ROUND
ST BRENDANS 1-5 V FLINDERS...Flinders need to take a big scalp pre christmas as they have been a Tad inconsistent post Christmas in the past. The loss of Johnny Peg (ankle) will be tough to cover but if the Saints get up it will put 2 games and % on the bottom 4. A huge game for both clubs. I dont think it will be high scoring. The team that brings their A game will have their hands raised at the end of this dour struggle. Saints to bounce back....just

Not really required to justify why this happened, but the reasoning behind it was we had over 12 players unavailable due to a wedding, work christmas party and various other events. It wasnt a case of our best players being out, but the sheer number of players being out. Western Ireland were good enough to reschedule and contact was made with them on Monday before the game. No precident has been set and all other teams are able to reschedule their games if it is agreed with both teams and the association. We were extremely grateful to WI and Im sure we will repay the favor to them if need be in the future

I think the Friday comp is going to die a slow death

I dont think so. I know we had this discussion once before but speaking to a few people since ive found a lot of people prefer the Friday games so as to not be playing hungover on Sunday. Friday under lights on a warm summers night still gets my juices flowing ;)

Well thankyou BB. I was also filled with ponderment (yes its a word if i say its a word) as to how many weddings happen on a friday evening  . As previously stated though, good luck to Flinders being able to convince WI to resechedule the game until...wait for it FEB  One can only assume that is a once of occurence and wont happen again until NaFiannas game time clashes with my 30th b,day in a couple of years ;)
