Centrelink - Quit my job and because i have savings in the bank i have to wait 13 weeks before they will give me any payments or untill all my money is gone!

So because i'm a good saver/budgeter i'm being punished whilst lazy people who wont work or find a job and sit around doing nothing but bludge get given everything they want!!

Seems to me centrelink encourage and reward the lazy while others have to pick up the slack!

Mate with all due respect, it might have been wise to check these things out prior to "quitting" your job without having another to go to.

 yeah i know i hear ya ;) I knew there would be a wait since i quit, but to think they make you wait LONGER due to having money i think is stupid!

But i mean not hard to find a job if ya really want one etc so wouldnt imagine it would be to much of an issue for me but its the fact of the matter.
No wonder some of these lazy bums have no interest in even finding a job whilst Centrelink support them and their lazy habits

i do agree that centrallink do make it hard for some people and yet other people can fraudulently rort the system

I know someone who has barely worked a day in her life, lives off centrelink and will probably never work a day in her life - she is now in her early 30's. Also took 10 years to do a course by correspondence but hasnt even managed to finish that.........

I think centrelink should be like a system they have in europe in which after a period of time say 12 months your benfits decrease and then it gets to the stage where the money coming ni from them will not be enough to survive, so they are then forced to go get a job.

Having spent some time working for CBA I found this story interesting and sadly not surprising.

I can see this happening to ‘old school’ managers who fail to adapt to the modern day goals and targets that basically determine their worth rather than measures such as customer service and staff management. Asking customers for a score out of 10..what a crock. The bank used to send in internal “mystery shoppers” to analyse a branch’s effectiveness, but it seems they might have cut them out to save $?

Nobody was ever made an example off at any sales meetings I went to (there were plenty for lenders and branch managers) but I would imagine it would happen. They could be tense meetings at times. Far too many levels of management exist in CBA, all putting pressure on the next one down the chain.

Can't really agree. There is a reasonable expectation that, before you access taxpayer money, you use your own money first.
But i'm not here to defend centrelink, ive heard how difficult they are to deal with!

Ok so you work for 20 years, pay tax, live your life, save what money you can then when you quit your job you need to spend your savings?
The payment you receive from centrelink is only really half of what a normal wage would be anyway, so you would no doubt be required to spend your own money as well.
I just cant comprehend that i can spend years working my a$$ off, paying tax etc doing all that while some people do NOTHING but bludge and scab money and then when i need a little assistance for a small period of time i cant have it?!

It's an interesting point you raise PG, and I can certainly see both sides to it .. What about if someone followed your example ("Ok so you work for 20 years, pay tax, live your life, save what money you can then when you quit your job you need to spend your savings?") .. However they didn't have any (or had very little) savings .. Would they then receive funding?
