It will just be a change in board/pres! the players will not notice much change other then that!

So do you know why the challengers want to change the board/pres if they don't want to change anything?
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

I hear there is a leadership challenge about to take place at one of the hills clubs.
A few "locals" are upset that the club who puts 100 players onto the park every saturday has ~10 who aren't true "locals".

Apparently the challenging group want to kick out all outsiders and keep it to only boys from the town playing for club.Madness if you ask me.

The club has taken massive steps forward over the past 5 years including all the upgrade works they have done, and as I understand have done it without owing a cent. Seems big steps forward, why would you stop that? On field they came were right up there last year, with the top side moving divs, they are a real shot at winning a flag for the first time in nearly a decade.

Will be very interesting if this challenge gets up. The rival faction will kick out the outsiders, allowing their sons who are really B-graders at best the chance to play A-grade in a losing side. Will get the odd win against the likes of Callington and Sudan still, but that doesn't really count does it.

Isn't it beautiful, the politics of footy clubs.
Might be some Dads are concerned their 'offspring' are not getting to play because they're really not quite good enough!

Torrens Valley have tried to recruit a couple of players that were opposition to them last year one of them was a captain of another leading club for $1200 a game and another is one of the leading ruckmen in the comp from another rival club.

You'd want to get a lot of kicks for that money.

They might have $$$$ spare, but they won't have many points to play with. The days of bringing in 5 or 6 name recruits at once are well and truly over.

Bizzare if true.
Being someone from this club, Demon people will think it's sour grapes but it's just that like us their town isn't big enough to support a 'local only' side. Other than maybe 2000 - back before the big money hit - there succesful sides of the past have certainly included plenty of imports.

Also a little birdie told me on the weekend that Birdwood may be losing a couple of their younger players to Houghton. Didnt they lose a couple to them last season

According to the Div 1 SAAFL thread, Birdwood have picked up Dawson from TTG...

Yeah lost a couple of quality players last year to Houghton, although one only played a few games and i don't think the other is planning on playing next year to concentrate on basketball... not sure of the truth to that rumour about more going down there although it wouldn't surprise me a few of the town lads get sick of the travel.

i have nothing to do with maccy but duke what is your issue with them and there coaches?
at the end of 2007 maccy lost alot of players most to tailem bend. mitchell was appointed coach in 2008 and they finished bottom.
in 2009 they appointed simon johnson who bought some new players and the club were probably unlucky to miss finals and lost games they could have won finishing 6th.
in 2010 they made the finals and went out in the first week which was to be expected as they hadnt beaten any of the teams above them. an improvement in the last 3 years if you ask me and on season 2009. noone thought johnson was going to take them to a flag.
although simon johnson clashes with alot of people you can not deny he didnt help lift the club from a slump. for whatever reason johnson is not the coach at maccy and they have now got the services of ben porter to help them go forward. if he makes a further impact and lifts them further up the ladder then he has done his job. and you could probably call them both impact coaches then!

I don't know PGit...I played with Porter years ago and have followed his career someewhat since. He's had an impact at a number of clubs. i reckon Cove would agree that he set up the club for Ando - 2 prelims/ 2 yrs. As for Happy Valley, didn't he get them to a prelim in 09 when they hadn't won a final in 4 years. He says it how it is - some people don't like a no-frills style - but I know a lot of players who want it straight. I'll keep my eye on Maccys in 2011.
