Andrew Flintoff has given his strongest indication that he will be fit to join Queensland's Twenty20 campaign in January following his lengthy rehabilitation from knee surgery. Flintoff hasn't played since England won the Ashes last year and was hoping to return for Lancashire this month before delaying his comeback again

Tasmania have signed Netherlands allrounder Ryan ten Doeschate for the Twenty20 Big Bash in 2010-11.

"His credentials suit what we need perfectly," Tasmania coach Tim Coyle said in Hobart. "He's an attacking, hard-hitting player who clears the boundary regularly, a very handy bowler and an excellent fieldsman."

The three West Indies players - captain Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard - who have turned down central contracts in order to play domestic cricket overseas, may find themselves unable to play in Australia's Big Bash Twenty20 tournament. Recent statements from Ernest Hilaire, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) chief executive, and Michael Brown, Cricket Australia's acting head, suggest board clearance will be required for such events, and will not be automatically granted by the WICB.

Gayle and Pollard are contracted to Western Australia and South Australia respectively, while Bravo is reportedly interested in representing Victoria, as he did last year. However, the players need no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the WICB to be eligible for the event.

Not imports for Australia, but NZ T20 series

New Zealand's Northern Knights will boast an envious roster after signing Herschelle Gibbs, Brad Hodge and David Warner for this summer's domestic Twenty20 tournament. Only two overseas players are allowed per match so the trio of big-hitting batsmen will be rotated during the event.

Wellington have signed the Australian fast bowler Brett Lee for New Zealand's domestic Twenty20 tournament this summer, but he will miss half their matches due to his commitments for New South Wales. Lee has joined the England allrounder Luke Wright as Wellington's overseas players for the HRV Cup, which begins in early December.

Interesting reading. They love their Twenty20 over their and these imports should attract more crowds. I'm sure my Uncle and cousins who live in Wellington and love their NZ cricket will be happy to hear about these imports.

Michael Yardy and Ian Blackwell have become the latest international imports for New Zealand's domestic Twenty20 competition after signing up with Central Districts. The Stags are the reigning champions in the HRV Cup and they hope the pair can help them again qualify for the Champions League Twenty20.

How much $$$ did they fork out for Brian Charles??????? I heard a rumour the other day that he planned to play in England's 20/20 comp last season but couldn't hit a ball to save himself

England's Michael Lumb, who has played seven Twenty20 internationals, will help Queensland's push for a berth in the Champions League after agreeing to join them for this summer's Big Bash. Lumb, a left-handed opener, was part of the World Twenty20 victory in the Caribbean in May and will aim to provide the Bulls with some much needed power hitting.

Chris Gayle has been cleared by the WICB to play for Western Australia in the Twenty20 Big Bash this season instead of his home side, Jamaica, in the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament. The dates of the two competitions clash, and Gayle has been granted a no objection certificate (NOC) by the WICB, despite the board's hesitation to confirm the move last month.Gayle won't be the only West Indian player in the Big Bash, with Kieron Pollard expected to line up for South Australia and Dwayne Bravo set to return to Victoria. Pollard is already in Australia, and will play in this Sunday's All-Star Twenty20 match at the Gabba.

Any news on redbacks imports for 20/20 BIGBASH? Is Pollard locked in and are we looking at a 2nd option?
