Not sure about that, someone might like to refresh our memories of the Carlton and Collingwood connected NSL clubs in the 90s and how they worked...

Please refresh Rob Gerrard's memory before he again describes this as an "Australian First"

And Port Power have done exactly the same in recent years, netball anyone?

Port sponsored the Thunderbirds. They had no allegiance or joint memberships/sponsorships/administration or anything else. It was a standard sponsorship.

Completely different to what is being talked about with NAFC/AU

Yes Dutchy but Port

a) aren't competing in the SANFL (yet)
and more importantly b) aren't writing bitter, whining diatribes on their website complaining about other clubs wanting to do the same thing.

I have no issue with North doing what they are doing.

My only issue is them whining on their website about how unfair it is that Port will be able to share administrative costs whilst at the same time setting up an arrangement to do exactly the same thing (free from omposed spending caps).

It is - Collingwood and Carlton actually ran and owned the NSL Clubs - this deal is not a merger or ownership thing in any shape or form so in terms of Football it is potentially unique and therefore a first.

Simply is North having some involvement in management consultancy to a club which is owned by a consortium that has ties to the NAFC, no club is owning either or any part of either so it is barely a relationship let alone merger etc.

There may be some investigation by both to see if there can be any off field benefits but frankly other than a few North people taking out AU membership I cant see that working the other way however if AU fans want to come to the Northern Tavern and Grand North and put their $$$ into our Pokies then bring it on.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

If AU put a white V on the front of their tops I'll consider it.
Until then, Go Mariners (and Adelaide City)! :D

Listening to them dribbling on , you could be forgiven for thinking that they were waxing on about Centrals not Norf ! Talk about comedy , Norf has done what since 91 ? Without one large person with even larger moneybags ; their massive under achievers who blew their last really big decision two years ago appointing Healy . Any other SANFL CLUB would have done as well if not better since moneybags saved their ass . Its going to be great now oh what wonderful new material to work on for future games ....... NAF AUFC ....... SAY that quickly a few times and you will get what I mean !

And that qualifies it as an Australian first???

Surely there are plenty of clubs that have consultants/board members in common?

Don't be like that Fester and SJABC, any dollars and support for AU is support and more income for North's Patron, North's Board Member, North's Lawyer and North's CEO.
Any dollars/support you give will also ensure North becomes bigger and better if Bob's plans come to fruition and we sincerely thank you for it.

So from a Port fans perspective its OK to align yourself with another National Sporting Club as long as it isnt a rival to footy? Lets make the rules as we go along eh?

An how is Soccer a rival to AFL? Dont even play similar seasons? (unlike netball)

Port fans have been making it up as they go along for about 12 - 18 months now to my calculations Dutchy.

That's what I thought as well. They are going on like this is the saviour for Adelaide United. North are a rabble on the field. It's not very often that a rabble on the field have got it together off the field, so exactly how is the North model going to bring any benefit to Adelaide United?

Yes I'm well aware that North are making money, but this doesn't mean they have got it together. If they did it would show on the field.

More unsubstantiated spewtum. :ymsick:

I say NA objected to Port gaining an unfair administrative advantage, not available to other SANFL clubs, then do exactly the same thing, but with a rival code, and your input? %-( More typical name calling.

And thats any difference to Port when they jumped ship to go to the AFL!

Oh spare me.

Cake and eat it too.

Now struggling and want everyones help. Well go through what every SANFL club has gone through counting their bare cupboard of money. Get good people in and make good business decisions and things will turn around instead of the so called one Port.

May I ask which side of the oval can the real Port train on........Please stand up now!
