New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson and fast bowler Hamish Bennett, two uncapped players, have been included in the Test squad for the three-match tour of India beginning in Ahmedabad on November 4. The 15-man team also includes batsman Martin Guptill, who was in Zimbabwe with the New Zealand A team while the national side was being drubbed 4-0 in an ODI series in Bangladesh.

Gautam Gambhir, VVS Laxman and Ishant Sharma have recovered from injuries that kept them out of the second Test against Australia, and are included in India's squad for the three-Test series against New Zealand, which begins on November 4 in Ahmedabad. That Cheteshwar Pujara and M Vijay filled in superbly for Laxman and Gambhir in Bangalore made this a straightforward selection, with both of them retaining their places in the 15-member squad. Amit Mishra and Sreesanth will be the reserve spinner and seamer respectively

These Indians are mad. Why not develop a couple of bowler friendly tracks in this series. The Kiwis are shite so they'll still win the series and they'll get a couple of days off as well.

I reckon Indian cricket has given its top priority to the ICC rankings system. If you look at the history of Asian cricket in the last 20 years they always seem to play huge amounts of ODI cricket and less tests than teams like Oz & England. In the last couple of years they seem to play a lot of tests at home on dead pitches against mediocre opposition. Australia's recent tour there was supposed to be the annual 7 ODI tournament but was changed to a 2 test, 3 ODI tour. IMO India's decision to change that was to take advantage of a weaker Aussie side. I doubt very much they would've done the same a few years ago. Now they have NZ and have prepared the same dull flat pitches so they can get another couple of wins. Soon they will be touring SA and will have to face Steyn, Morkel, Parnell etc on pitches like 'The Green Mamba'. My money will be on SA giving them a touch-up. But with a string of Indian wins before the series they should still hold onto that no.1 ranking even if they get spanked in SA. Its also funny that now India have control of the ICC & no.1 ranking a 'World test championship' is being talked about again.
