How many blokes from Enfield A grade (of any quality) play footy smarty pants? Gully would be the only one worth mentioning i would say.

If anything Pete, you'd probably only find the info you're after if the respective clubs had websites of their own and have dedicated room to elaborate on their history.

If you're real keen, check out the book "100 Up!", via Association Treasurer Ian Kinsman. It's a comprehensive summary of the first 100yrs of the SACCA/C&CCA. Will set you back $30-35, but it's worth the read. 8)

Until the My Cricket website was launched a few years ago, I'd say all the match reports would have been archived by the statistical officer, which used to be Wally Johnson before he passed away and then Glenys took over (IIRC). :? Imagine having the job of loading every single previous match report of the last 100+yrs into a database!!! Unless you're offering mate... ;)

Anyhow, all you need to know is 1997/98 - 717 runs @ 102.43 avg.. :p

After Wally Johnson, John McTier was the statistical officer from 2003-2006 when Glenys took over.

Up until 2006 association records were only kept on paper (as none of the statistical officers were particularly computer literate). In 2006-07 and 07/08 the website run through SACA was used but the link for that doesn't work anymore (scores.saca.com.au or the host http://www.sportzdat.com). Since 08/09 the current "mycricket" website has been used, and archives from these years are all on there. I know that there was talk of importing all the stuff from the old SACA website onto mycricket, but obviously that wasn't straightforward and/or nobody could be bothered. Hopefully those years (06/07 and 07/08) haven't been lost though.

If you are after something in particular, your best bet would be to ask Glenys. I'm not sure who has all the historical stats, it is probably one of either Glenys, Ian Amey or John McTier.

I have a database with details from every Adelaide Lutheran game ever (354 of them) including how many balls each ALCC batsman faced. That was a huge effort to put all of that into a database just for one club (that has only existed since 1981/82), so to do it for the whole association would be almost impossible. I also have all the Adelaide Lutheran scorebooks, so if you are after any information from games against us, I can look those up.

how hard would it be for each club to put their stats on a database? Surely it could be a project done over a period of time, and then its a matter of just keeping them updated.

I know Enfield have their "bat and ball" publication which holds all their stats and records etc, its a good read too

Given that it is a struggle to get clubs to put in match reports, getting them to also have databases and keep them up to date is a little far fetched I think (unfortunately) :(

If you read what I wrote, I was really just stating what happened, as I thought it was an interesting comparison to what happened last year! I was never talking our team up (as I said I know we don't have a particularly strong team this year) so of course I wouldn't be surprised if Enfield beat us this round, particularly on their home ground coming off 2 good wins against Para Vista and NE Knights!

I think it is great actually that Div 3 is shaping up as a very even grade - every team has lost a game after 3 rounds, and even bottom team Fitzroy have even been competitive in their matches (and have scored the most runs overall in the division). Maybe I need to comment on them to fire them up for some wins, like I did with Enfield!
