30-40mm friday a few showers? :? Would want to hope the rain comes in early and passes before too late Friday night/Early Sat morn give grounds a chance to drain etc.

Come on PG, where's the positive thinking?

Let's just hope the rain passes down south and we are good to go Saturday.

If rain stops us from starting what is the rule on how long we can wait to get a start?

depends on the captains
if one captain wants to wait it out then the umpire can only call it off at 6:30 - unless he deems it unsafe for play prior

Until there's not enough time to get a result, you can only play til 6:30pm though. Both captains have to agree before this time.

I may be wrong, but I thought that the umpires were the only ones who were responsible for weather/light/conditions related decisions now?

I thought the umpire can deem the conditions to be unsafe but the captains can call it a day whenever they can come to an agreement, I'm not much in the loop anymore though.

yes only the umpires can make this decision now. has nothing to do with the captains. Merlin told me this round 1 when it was raining. It stops captains having a go at each other when they both want different things. I think it should have always been like this.

Surely if both captains agree to call it a day it stands, the captains have a duty of care aswell.

Who is in charge of the association side this season?

It wont happen IMO, but if the strongest side was picked then they would be very competitive!

Best XI? Probably too hard to call this early with alot of unknowns to the comp.

As I've said previously, I'd rather see a one off game, against the Barossa perhaps, make it an annual event, perhaps a masters game aswell and alternate venues annually.
This would get the best side possible as it wouldn't be an overkill or become a chore.

We'd have 3 players worthy of a invite to train at least. It would be a nightmare trying to select a final eleven, I'd imagine Westies, the Lodge, Rosies and the Billygoats would all have at least 4 or 5 worthy of an invite. It is a bit early in the season to start putting up "mock" sides though. Too many times reputation over-rides form.
